This role supports economic transformation in conflict-affected and migrant regions, aiming to boost local economy capacity, create jobs, and foster inclusive growth for refugees, IDPs, returnees, and host communities. Key Responsibilities
Strategy and Planning
Develop and implement strategies for value chain development in conflict- and migration-affected regions. Identify high-potential value chains for economic growth and employment. Coordinate with local stakeholders to align with national development policies. Integrate innovative financing and inclusive practices into strategic planning. Monitor and report on key performance indicators. Support resource mobilization and partnership development. Regional Systems and Support
Ensure adherence to organizational and donor policies. Share best practices across teams. Support emergency responses and complex program start-ups. Human Resources, Safeguarding, and Diversity
Promote staff development and inclusive HR practices. Risk Management
Implement and support risk mitigation systems. Support preparedness and response efforts. Qualifications
Master’s in economics, business, or related field, or 10+ years of relevant experience. At least 5 years supporting value chain development in Sub-Saharan Africa. Minimum 3 years experience with financial inclusion, value chain analysis, and innovative financing mechanisms. Success Factors
Strong coordination, relationship-building, and strategic thinking skills are essential. Fluency in English and excellent interpersonal skills are required. The candidate should demonstrate adaptability, inclusivity, and motivation to foster collaboration among diverse stakeholders. Living Conditions
The position is based in Addis Ababa, with up to 40% travel to support program activities, including potential travel to insecure areas. Housing is provided in individual accommodation with access to quality medical services. Additional Information
