Materials Management
Receives and reviews Engineering Drawings / Blueprints for technical specifications and requests of materials for processing of the Bill of Materials (BOM), Material Takeoff and for creation of Purchase requisition.
Identifies raw material / fasteners specifications required for ordering the material either from drawings or from the project specification.
Identifies raw materials / fasteners that require the release of a substitution alert to the client.
Allocates stock materials / fasteners into the project prior to ordering (if matching materials / fasteners are available in stock).
Ensures efficient and proper selection of optimized lengths of the materials to minimize the wastage factor.
Item Creation
Transfers all details in the Purchase Requisition System for approval.
Coordinates with the Engineering department for any technical clarification on the details to ensure correct understanding of the materials needed for requisition.
Technical Delivery Condition
Checks and verifies from the supplier agents the supplier’s compliance with the given technical requirements through the Technical Delivery Condition (TDC) and ARM documents.
Provides recommendations to the Purchasing department for appropriate suppliers of materials.
In case of non-conformance of the requirements, evaluates alternative courses of action in close coordination with the Engineering and Quality Management departments.
Negotiates with the suppliers for the best deal / prices of the requisitioned materials.
Purchase Requisition Processing
Expedites the Purchase Order from the purchasing department.
Secures drawings from the suppliers for some materials as required and coordinates with the Engineering and Project Management departments for acceptance and feedback.
Releases Purchase Requisitions for the materials / fasteners to be ordered.
Orders additional materials or records excess materials for charging to the client through the Contract Variation Form.
Delivery of Materials
Expedites with the suppliers the delivery of materials to ensure timely delivery as per agreed contract.
Checks and forwards the packing list, Sales Invoice, Shipping documents, and Certificate of Origin to Clearance & Purchasing departments for their reference.
Documentation and Reporting
Prepares and updates the weekly 'Material Status Report' which shows the percentage of materials available at different dates throughout the lifespan of a project.
Job Specification
Qualifications :
Bachelor’s degree in Civil & Mechanical Engineering discipline.
Minimum of 3 years of working experience as Material Planning Engineer or any similar position held in Steel Fabrication Industry, preferably in Transmission and Telecommunication Towers.
Must have an in-depth understanding of Engineering Drawings.
Sound knowledge of Document / Records Management.
Should possess Excellent Communication Skills in English Language.
High proficiency in the use of MS Office Applications.
Familiarity with Oracle-based ERP is an advantage.
Must have Keenness to Details and High Degree of Flexibility.
Work assignments may vary as assigned.
