Senior Registrar Neurosurgery

Overview

Senior Registrar is responsible for providing the care of his / her patients maintaining a high-level of professional performance in accordance with : Evidence based medicine. Professional medical ethics and JCIA standards. Hospital medical by-laws. Laws of Ministry of Health in Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and any other applicable regulations according to the departmental quality plan. Major Duties and Responsibilities

Ensures through his actions, either directly or indirectly, that a superior quality of medical treatment, compassion and understanding is given to every patient served at the Care National Hospital and Clinics. Performs history taking, physical examinations, interpretation of common diagnostic tests and documents patient condition on admission in the specified admissions sheet as per JCIA standards when registrar is not available or when advised by Head of Department. Admits patients from the hospital facilities (E.R., OPD) on his own or as determined by HOD upon appropriate discussion with the Consultant. Evaluates new admission and coordinates a plan of investigation to establish a diagnosis and a management course with or without consultant assistance as determined by HOD. Conducts daily ward rounds to all inpatients in the department, on his own and / or as a team with other department staff as determined by HOD. Documents plan of patient management in a legible, accurate and maintain appropriate records of all patients with accurate, timely legible completion of patient’s medical records. Seeks the advice of or help of the Consultant whenever the condition of a patient merits further expertise. Prepares all discharge summaries, death reports and special reports on related patients when the registrar is not available or when advised by Head of Department. Presents new admissions to the department through the morning report when on duty and the registrar is not available. Participates actively in the on-call rota of the department for patient care and admissions. Responds to emergencies to offer medical care and advice on problems related to his / her specialty. Participates in the delivery of medical care in outpatient service (e.g. O.P.D. and E.R.) on his own as determined by HOD. Assists Senior staff (Consultant) in performing diagnostic or therapeutic procedures to patients in his field of specialty. Supervises the Junior Staff in conducting their duties and responsibilities as designated by the department. Participates actively in department's educational and training activities. Abides by department Policies and procedures as well as hospital by-laws, Rules and Regulations. Performs administrative tasks as assigned by the Consultant In-charge or Head of the Department. Performs other applicable tasks and duties assigned within the realm of employee's knowledge, skills and abilities. Reporting to

Consultant of the Subspecialty (Division), and Head of Internal Medicine or his designate. Liaises with

All Consultants of his / her specialty, of other specialties within the department, Consultant of other departments, Nursing staff, other health care professionals, patients and their families. Registrars, Residents, Nurses and other paramedical staff assigned to him. Qualifications

A minimum of : Arab Board or American Board, or Canadian Fellowship, or MRCP, or Equivalent. Registration as Senior Registrar with the Saudi Medical Council for Health Specialties. Higher qualifications in his specialty, if any. Experience

A minimum of : Minimum of three (3) years in his / her specialty after obtaining Master\'s Degree. Current valid license to practice medicine in the place of residence. Additional experience in his / her sub-specialty. Academic affiliation. Fluent in spoken and written English. Communication in spoken Arabic is desirable. Exhibits professionalism and excellent interpersonal communication skills. Is knowledgeable of the Medical by-laws. Knowledge of computer application. Seniority level
