Sr. Program Manager, Inventory Optimization Program Amazon's Retail Business Services (RBS) team is looking for a Senior Program Manager to help expand its Inventory Optimization Program (IOP). The objective of the Program is to eliminate defects that leave inventory available in our fulfillment centers yet unavailable for customers to purchase. We understand the root causes of these defects, fix and eliminate them, and thereby increase availability and sales, enhancing the customer experience. Our end customers are buying customers and selling partners. We work hard to reduce product non‑availability for buyers and to improve the profitability of our selling partners.
As the Senior Program Manager, you will own the expansion of the IOP program to all defect reasons across the world and drive defect elimination. The role involves end‑to‑end business planning—creating annual plans and strategies for execution, ensuring operational rigor, designing high‑impact processes, and identifying automation opportunities that drive process efficiency. As a large‑program owner, you will be the strategic point of contact to business, operations, and tech teams worldwide and must be comfortable liaising with remote global teams at senior leadership levels. You will manage business impact through functional activities and be accountable for designing and delivering on all KPI objectives. You will define the program (mission, vision, tenets), set objectives, analyze data, and drive quantified improvements while influencing resource allocation. You will solve ambiguous problems, proactively identify and mitigate risks, and be data‑driven, demonstrating good judgment in when and how to elevate issues without damaging relationships.
A successful candidate will be an exceptional strategic thinker with exposure to supply‑chain improvement. Key skills include dealing with ambiguity, effective networking and influencing partner teams without authority, overcoming unforeseen obstacles, and developing a deep understanding of the tech product.
Key Job Responsibilities
Responsible for defining and driving business goals.
Forming and managing cross‑functional project teams to deliver key programs for customers.
Building a data‑oriented culture, adopting technology solutions, and leading process‑improvement projects to achieve business goals.
Solving business problems using technology; liaising with technology and operational teams to identify use cases, implement sustainable solutions, and scale them to support defect elimination.
Managing stakeholder communication across multiple lines of business on project milestones, process changes, escalations, and more.
Addressing ill‑defined business problems and delivering independently with limited leadership direction.
Operating within a VP organization, influencing large customer segments, technology decisions, and external entity interactions, while actively mentoring and developing others.
Owning a large program, managing the lifecycle of complex initiatives, unblocking teams, increasing delivery speed, and making trade‑offs between short‑term and long‑term needs.
Driving detailed discussions and high‑level alignment; communicating clearly and concisely in verbal and written form; presenting decisions to leaders up to three tiers above; and communicating across a diverse array of areas.
A Day in the Life You will own a few defects that lead to process gaps in inventory management, understand the systems and processes causing those defects, and interact with various tech and program owners whose processes either create or help solve those defects. You will dive deep into data to analyze opportunities, identify patterns, and implement upstream solutions. Using Lean Six Sigma techniques, you will identify and execute process improvements and present data‑driven insights to leadership for decision making.
