Job Purpose

The Director of Outreach will lead the Museum’s community-facing programs, cultivating strong, reciprocal relationships with individuals and groups across Riyadh and beyond. This role involves designing and managing initiatives that welcome underrepresented communities into the museum, amplify diverse cultural voices, and expand the museum’s civic footprint. The jobholder will work closely with cultural practitioners, community organizations, and grassroots networks, using data and dialogue to inform strategy and continuously improve effectiveness. The ideal candidate will combine cultural sensitivity with operational skills, ensuring that outreach efforts are targeted, meaningful, and sustainable. In developing strategy and program, the jobholder will activate synergy potentials in collaboration with institutions across the Royal Arts Complex and King Salman Park, ensuring that strategies and activities are aligned with the Museum’s mission and values.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Strategy and Planning : Develop and implement strategic outreach plans to promote cultural engagement and community inclusion. Align outreach initiatives with organizational goals and cultural mission. Develop and execute a comprehensive outreach strategy that aligns with organizational goals, promoting cultural initiatives and increasing community engagement.
  • Budget Management : Develop, manage, and monitor the Outreach budget in collaboration with the Finance Department.
  • Policies, Processes, and Procedures : Establish standard procedures for outreach operations and event planning. Ensure compliance with institutional guidelines and community cultural standards. Integrate best practices in inclusivity and accessibility into all programs.
  • Functional Accountabilities : Use community assessments and data to refine outreach programs and ensure relevance and impact. Oversee the organization of host cultural events and activities, ensuring thorough planning and execution while effectively managing budgets to achieve financial goals. Ensure ongoing assessments of community cultural needs, leveraging data to adapt outreach programs and enhance participation among diverse demographic groups. Oversee the creation of engaging promotional materials and content across various platforms to effectively communicate outreach programs and initiatives to the community. Monitor and evaluate the impact of outreach initiatives through feedback collection, surveys, and performance metrics, adjusting strategies as necessary to improve outcomes. Represent the organization at community meetings, workshops, and public events to advocate for cultural engagement and gather stakeholder input. Oversee the development and maintenance of a database of outreach contacts and partnerships, ensuring consistent follow-up and relationship management. Seek out funding opportunities and lead grant writing efforts to secure financial support for outreach programs and events.
  • Stakeholder Management : Cultivate and maintain relationships with a diverse range of community organizations, local artists, and cultural institutions to promote and manage collaborative opportunities. Represent the organization at external events and meetings to promote engagement. Manage stakeholder expectations and gather community input for continued improvement.
  • People Management : Lead and mentor a team of outreach staff and volunteers. Live by the institution’s values, ethical standards, and governance. Manage and support team members in performing their tasks in line with established policies and procedures. Guide, mentor, and develop the Outreach team to ensure continuous growth and achievement of functional objectives. Set clear performance goals, provide regular feedback, and support professional development through coaching and formal evaluations. Delegate authority appropriately to empower team members and encourage accountability. Contribute to workforce planning, recruitment, and performance management while promoting employee engagement and motivation. Foster a high-performance, inclusive, and collaborative work culture aligned with the museum’s values. Promote innovation and contribute to a positive, inspiring, and diverse workplace. Maintain high personal standards and ensure excellence across the section.

Job Qualifications and Requirements

Knowledge and Experience

  • Minimum of 15 years’ experience in community outreach, cultural engagement, or related fields.
  • Demonstrated ability to design and execute successful outreach campaigns.
  • Strong familiarity with community needs assessments, stakeholder collaboration, and program evaluation.
  • Experience in budgeting and funding acquisition through grants and sponsorships.
  • Proficiency in communication tools and social media platforms used in outreach.
  • Education and Certifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Psychology, Sociology, Communications, Social Work, Political Science, Marketing, or related field is required. A master’s degree in any of these fields is strongly preferred.
  • Personal capabilities and qualifications

  • Excellent strategic planning and organizational skills, enabling effective project management and prioritization of outreach initiatives.
  • Strong analytical skills with proficiency in interpreting data to drive decision-making and evaluate program effectiveness.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication abilities, with a talent for public speaking and engaging presentations.
  • High emotional intelligence and cultural competence, facilitating effective interactions in diverse settings.
  • Strong negotiation and conflict resolution skills, with the capacity to address challenges in community engagement initiatives.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, project management software, and social media marketing tools.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability to changing priorities.
  • A proactive attitude and resourcefulness, with the ability to innovate and generate creative solutions to obstacles in outreach efforts.
  • Sound understanding of grant funding processes and demonstrated success in securing funding for community initiatives.
  • Commitment to promoting inclusivity and fostering an understanding of cultural diversity within the community through outreach initiatives.
