Job Description Responsible for design, specification, selection, and services related to mechanical equipment such as rotating machinery, pressure vessels, atmospheric storage tanks, fired and unfired heat transfer equipment, utility equipment, packaged units, material handling, and solids processing systems. This may also include mechanical systems for buildings such as gases, fluids, heating, ventilating, air conditioning, and vertical transportation.

Under general supervision, performs all conventional aspects of the functional area. Devises new approaches to problems encountered. Plans, schedules, and conducts work requiring judgment in the independent evaluation, selection, and adaptation of engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria.

Performs work involving conventional engineering practice but may include complex features such as conflicting design requirements, unsuitable materials, and difficult coordination. Provides technical guidance to designers and less experienced engineers. The work impacts cost containment, efficiency, profitability, or operations.

Requires sufficient professional experience to ensure competence as a fully trained professional. May lead a small project or a segment of a larger project, planning, budgeting, organizing, coordinating, and controlling the project, including employee performance appraisals and coaching. Certification as a Licensed / Chartered Professional Engineer is preferred.

Requirements Skills are typically acquired through an undergraduate degree in Engineering and a minimum of 4 years related experience, with an average of 6-10 years of experience.
