Principal Geoscientist Job Description

The Principal Geoscientist collaborates with all technical teams to ensure excellence in exploration programs. They are responsible for developing and designing methodologies and SOPs. The role includes ensuring continued team development in geological understanding (e.g., mineralogy, structure) and training in modern exploration methods. Key responsibilities include solving geological problems across properties by working through Maaden field camps, assisting and mentoring geologists in the field, and leading exploration efforts across various terrains and commodities. Qualifications and Experience

Broad exploration experience in multiple terrains (at least 2) with significant knowledge of at least 3 commodities, and understanding of an additional 2 or international recognition in a single commodity or exploration process. Multicontinent experience and sound commercial skills. Feasibility study experience and ability to commercialize technical expertise. Extensive knowledge of applied exploration techniques. Skills and Competencies

Ability to present practical solutions and recognize problem areas for improvement, recommending specific actions. Experience in generating geological ore body models confirmed by discoveries. Ability to articulate a clear program vision and exercise good judgment. Proven discovery history and strong pattern recognition skills. Flexibility to shift commodity focus quickly and predict the unknown based on familiarity. Applying historical experiences to long-term planning and managing complexity.
