Colocation Regional Engineer, Colo Regional Engineering AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. We keep the cloud running by supporting all AWS data centers and the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure continual access to the innovation customers rely on. As a Colo Regional Engineer, you will drive mechanical / electrical engineering services and the construction and implementation of enterprise data centers that meet quality and performance levels globally. You will work with Design Engineering Stakeholders, Construction, Operations, and Commissioning teams regionally and globally, leading projects to fit out data centers to meet evolving customer needs as the fleet expands to hyper-scale.
The Colo Regional Engineer represents the Data Center Field Engineering Team for successful project delivery. You will assist in data center site selection, planning, and development. You will evaluate mechanical / electrical systems and make data-driven decisions based on our guidelines.
This role may be assigned to an Amazon Building or Data Center and will require visits to customer locations or other non-Corporate Amazon sites. You may work from an Amazon building, Data Center, or customer location as needed.
Key job responsibilities
Work with colo vendors to review the design for new data centers in your region, including design input, submittal review, and incorporation of AWS products to ensure the design meets AWS expectations.
Act as resident engineer during new colo construction projects. Support construction, commissioning, and handover.
Troubleshoot, conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA), and create Corrective Action (CA) documentation for site / equipment failures.
Directly support operational issues with ad-hoc training and reviews of operating procedures, including essential equipment and event support.
Provide technical support to design for existing data center upgrades and design-solutions that add capacity, improve availability, and increase efficiency.
Support operating partners to lead, review, and approve designs for existing co-location (colo) data center upgrades to improve availability / efficiency.
Interface with operating partners, data center design engineering, server hardware, and safety teams to promote standards that maintain consistency and reliability in services delivered by operating partners.
Work on concurrent projects, sometimes in multiple geographical regions.
Initiate and lead engineering site audits within leased or colo data centers. Produce reports outlining risks with recommended mitigations and remediations.

Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical / Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience
6+ years of experience in industrial or commercial engineering in Mission Critical facilities including data centers, power generation, oil / gas facilities
Preferred Qualifications
5+ years of experience in data center design and deep understanding of related critical equipment
Basic understanding of mechanical and electrical equipment / design for data centers (e.g., VFDs, chillers, pumps, cooling towers, CRAHs, economizers)
Knowledge of building codes and regulations for the region
Direct experience with design, construction, operation, or maintenance of mission critical facilities, especially data centers
Experience as a resident engineer or hands-on design consultant
