The Paint Shop Maintenance Manager is responsible for leading all maintenance operations within the paint shop to ensure equipment reliability, safety compliance, and maximum uptime. This role requires strong technical expertise in automotive paint shop systems (e.g., ovens, spray booths, conveyors, robots), leadership skills to manage a multidisciplinary maintenance team, and the ability to drive continuous improvement in a high-volume production environment. Responsibilities
Oversee day-to-day maintenance activities within the paint shop, including preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance Ensure optimal functioning of paint shop equipment, such as pretreatment lines, electrocoating systems, ovens, paint booths, robots, conveyors, and environmental controls Lead, develop, and manage a team of maintenance technicians, electricians, and engineers Implement and monitor preventive maintenance programs and CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems) Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical, electrical, and automation issues with minimal downtime Collaborate with production and quality teams to ensure alignment on operational goals and paint quality standards (Class A finish) Manage spare parts inventory and ensure critical spares are available to avoid extended downtime Coordinate with equipment OEMs and service vendors for technical support and upgrades Monitor and ensure compliance with all safety, environmental, and health regulations Develop and track maintenance KPIs, including MTBF, MTTR and cost efficiency Drive continuous improvement initiatives using Lean, Six Sigma, or TPM methodologies Ensure non-disclosure of confidential information within or outside the organization Ensure adherence to Health, Safety, Security, Environment policies and standards across all business functions under the department You Bring
Minimum Qualifications
Education Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering (or related field); relevant experience may substitute Minimum 10 years of experience in maintenance, with at least 3 years in a leadership role within an automotive paint shop or similar industrial setting Master’s degree or PMP certification is a plus Technical Skills
Minimum 10 years of experience in maintenance, with at least 3 years in a leadership role within an automotive paint shop or similar industrial setting Strong knowledge of paint shop technologies, including spray systems, curing ovens, robotics, PLCs, and ventilation systems Hands-on experience with maintenance systems such as SAP PM, Maximo, or other CMMS tools Excellent leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills Familiarity with ISO 9001, IATF 16949, or other relevant quality standards is a plus Working knowledge of safety standards such as OSHA and NFPA Soft Skills
