Job Description : Technical Design Coordinator
Overview
A Technical Design Coordinator acts as the bridge between design teams, product development, and production. This role ensures that all technical specifications, documentation, and design assets are accurate, complete, and aligned across cross‑functional teams. They help translate creative concepts into production‑ready materials while maintaining quality, consistency, and timelines.
Key Responsibilities
1. Technical Documentation & Specifications
- Prepare and maintain detailed technical design documents, including CAD files, tech packs, schematics, and design standards.
- Ensure all design assets are accurate, up to date, and compliant with internal guidelines or industry standards.
- Assist in creating and updating production drawings and technical manuals.
2. Cross‑Functional Coordination
Act as a primary liaison between designers, engineers, product managers, and manufacturers.Facilitate communication to ensure technical requirements are understood and met.Coordinate design reviews, collect feedback, and ensure all revisions are implemented correctly.Supported the CRAFT engineering team during the IFC development phase with a third‑party design agency, ensuring full coordination and compliance across all disciplines.3. Project Management
Track project timelines, deliverables, and approvals to keep development on schedule.Manage multiple design projects simultaneously, prioritizing based on urgency and impact.Support the development process from concept through final production handoff.4. Quality & Compliance
Review designs for feasibility, manufacturability, and compliance with technical standards.Identify potential design issues and collaborate with teams to resolve them early in the development cycle.Ensure consistency across product lines or design systems.Maintain organized repositories of design files, workflows, and revision histories.Implement version control practices to avoid conflicts or outdated materials.Ensure teams have access to the correct and latest technical assets.Required Skills & Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, industrial design, architecture, product design, or a related field.Strong proficiency in tools such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Revit, Rhino, Adobe Creative Suite, or other relevant design / technical software.Excellent communication and coordination skills.Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.Understanding of manufacturing processes, materials, and design principles.Experience reading and interpreting technical drawings.Preferred Qualifications
Experience in a product development or technical design role.Familiarity with quality standards, regulatory requirements, or compliance processes related to the industry.Experience working with cross‑functional teams in an engineering or design‑driven organization.Knowledge of PLM / PDM systems.Personal Attributes
