– responsible for providing the highest standard of clinical care, practice and expertise in assessment, investigation, diagnosis, treatment and follow-up of patients in endocrinology. The physician should actively participate in continuous quality improvement activities of the department and hospital to achieve the goals of HMG. Responsibilities
Manage the assigned clinics as per the approved rota by the Medical Director. Admit patients under care when indicated within the limits of the approved and assigned privileges. Perform initial assessment, investigation, analyses and interpretation of clinical findings and test results, arriving at diagnoses, treatment plans and follow-up. Prescribe, administer medication, therapy and / or other appropriate care to treat or prevent complications of the disease. Explain procedures and discuss diagnostic results or prescribed treatments with patients and / or authorized attendants. Monitor patient condition and progress, re-evaluate as needed and adjust treatment accordingly. Refer patients to other consultants / specialists when necessary; consult with or provide services to other physicians when requested. Undertake daily rounds on admitted patients and referred patients. Document and ensure completeness of all medical records as per hospital policies and update progress accordingly. Authenticate medical records at initial entries and progress notes with personal login credentials in Patient Health Records. Review and validate entries and notes of junior medical staff for patients under care. Perform diagnostic and / or therapeutic procedures for which the Consultant is privileged. Approve completed discharge summaries, follow-up plans and medical reports. Assume duties as Head of the department as required by management. Ensure implementation of approved policies, procedures, rules, regulations, protocols, guidelines and clinical pathways that guide clinical services. Direct, supervise and coordinate activities of specialists, residents, nurses, therapists, assistants and other medical staff involved in patient care. Advise and contribute to policy and procedure development as part of the department's continuous quality improvement program. Serve on departmental / hospital committees as required. Ensure Islamic values and medical ethics are respected and observed. Be on-call as per hospital policy and participate in Code Blue and other emergency codes as applicable. Provide patient medical reports and information as required by the Head of Department or Hospital Administrator / Medical Director. Identify and escalate medico-legal cases to management per hospital policy. Participate in clinical / academic activities of the hospital. Educate patients and families on a healthy lifestyle; contribute to community health education as appropriate. Be regular and punctual in duties as scheduled; follow hospital policies and procedures. Obtain informed consent for diagnostic procedures, operations, tests or procedures in accordance with hospital policy. Participate in and lead person-centered care initiatives undertaken by HMG. Provide orientation, bedside training and supervision to undergraduate and postgraduate trainees as assigned. Engage in self and others’ education, training and development as applicable to the department’s programs. Enhance patient experience with compassion, respect and dignity. Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of knowledge, skills and abilities. Requirements
Education / Professional Qualification
Graduate of Medical School, recognized by the Medical Council of the country of origin. Completion of appropriate internship and residency programs. Post-graduate qualifications in the specialty. Experience
At least three (3) years of practice in the specialty after obtaining the higher degree in a tertiary care hospital. Subspecialty degree or structured subspecialty training preferred. Professional Licensing / Certification / Training
Membership, Fellowship and / or Board Certification in the respective specialty. Relevant licensure from the country of origin, acceptable to the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties and Ministry of Health.
