The QA Lead is a critical function within the QA team. Reporting directly to a QA Manager, you will collaborate closely with the external deployment project manager, producer, product manager, external dev teams, QA teams and the engineering teams to ensure best-in-class test coverage for the game teams’ projects. You are a master of communication, bug finding wizard, and test case management specialist- able to both lead and coordinate a legion of testers with delegated tasks as well as roll up your sleeves to take on the solo mission of assisting our cross-functional teams as an autonomous, expert QA specialist.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate and manage large / multiple team(s) of Internal testers / Dev testers split between multiple shifts on complex projects
- Coordinate testing efforts with the QA partners in the game teams
- Manage resource needs based on the scope of upcoming releases
- Respond to one-off testing queries, acting as a liaison and communicator for the game QA testing teams for these specific requests
- Assist in maintaining test and development environments by managing environment specific configurations and settings
- Work closely with the game engineering team for ad hoc testing requests, demonstrating advanced techniques for testing and regression of product
- Generate status reports for the game QA team and the game team leaders, communicating status of testing and escalating risks and blockers to key stakeholders on behalf of the QA team
- Assist in the generation and maintenance of functional test suites
- Manage daily bug triages with confidence in prioritizing bugs and surfacing critical issues logged by QA
- Instill QA best testing practices across both internal and external teams, increasing quality level of issue reporting through advanced reporting techniques including crash logs, server logs, video, and screen capture
- Leverage Dashboards to monitor issue status’ throughout the testing lifecycle
- Coach your team members to develop and grow the most talented testers in the org
- Contribute to the development and the delivery of the training curriculum
Requirements
Passion for games of all genres and all platforms (mobile, PC and console)English proficiency (B2 level or above) – verbal and written.Desire to grow a career in the gaming industry and learn the ins and outs of how a game is made, with potential growth in QA, production, design, and product live ops.Proven prior experience managing quality on mobile / console / PC projects.Ability to comfortably juggle and re-prioritize multiple tasks on the fly.Lead the planning and implementation of the project.Facilitate the definition of project scope, goals and deliverables.Define and distribute the project tasks based on the team resourcesRecruit, interview and select staff with appropriate skills for the project activitiesManage project staff according to company policies and practicesEnsure that all project personnel receive proper orientation and professional developmentExecute the project according to the agreed planOrganize daily standups and retrospective meetings with team(s)Recurrently review the quality of the work completed with the team to ensure that it meets the project standardsConstantly monitor and report on progress of the project to all stakeholders and adjust as necessaryPresent reports defining QA project progress, risk registry and mitigation planTrack project deliverables using appropriate tools (TestRail and Jira)Provide direction and support to the project teamImplement and manage project changesEnsure that the project deliverables are on time and at the required level of qualityMonitor the outcomes of the project as established during the planning phaseNice to have
