Overview
In this Job Family, roles are responsible for deploying, migrating and managing infrastructure services. Individuals in these positions possess the capability to manage various versions of Linux, AIX, and Container Platforms. The Linux Engineer is tasked with leading administration, and support of mission-critical Linux environments hosted on physical, virtual, and hybrid platforms. This role encompasses lifecycle management, performance tuning, and automation of operating system-related processes to ensure stability and high availability. Key focus areas include automation, security measures, and continuous system optimization.
Responsibilities
- Setup and manage Linux systems (RHEL, CentOS, SUSE) for critical infrastructure
- Setup and manage AIX server in pSeries architecture, including LPARs, VIO servers, and PowerVM environments
- Automate OS deployments, patching, and configuration using Ansible and SaltStack
- Integrate Unix systems with security controls and monitoring tools to ensure system compliance to Security standard
- Analyze performance bottlenecks and provide permanent fixes via root cause analysis of Linux / AIX systems
- Collaborate on DR readiness and participate in high-availability testing
- Provide technical support in infrastructure services, responding to issues and assisting in tasks
- Contribute to the implementation of infrastructure projects and assignments
- Support the development of infrastructure documentation, including incident logs and configuration records
- Apply technical knowledge to address Linux / AIX infrastructure-related challenges
- Follow established best practices and standards in infrastructure service delivery
- Utilize technical skills to address infrastructure issues and incidents
Required Skills
Advanced knowledge of Linux OS internals and kernel tuningExpertise in AIX OS, PowerHA, PowerVM, NIM, and VIO serversExperience with virtualization (KVM, VMware) and hybrid infrastructureAwareness of CIS hardening, log forwarding, and SIEM integration and proficient in security compliance standards and OS-level auditingExperience with Ansible, Puppet or similar automation toolsExperience in setting up Linux Centralized management tool (RedHat Satellite / SUSE Manager) and patch managementGood knowledge of hybrid IT environmentsBasic Qualifications
Bachelor\'s degree in a relevant field or equivalent combination of education and experienceTypically, 4+ years of relevant work experience in industry, with a minimum of 1+ years in a similar roleProven experience in infrastructure technology analysisProficiencies in data analysis and technical knowledgeA continuous learner that stays abreast with industry knowledge and technologyOther Qualifications
