Area Shift Manager – Amazon Operations

Job Specifics

This role is fully onsite and requires flexibility to work and rotate shifts : weekends, holidays, and / or overnight shifts. Ability to work overtime during peak season and as needed.

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Promote a culture of safety and wellbeing
  • Analyze and implement corrective actions to maintain high quality and productivity and meet business objectives across all shifts
  • Support and lead a team, handle administrative work, and build and support a strong team culture
  • Analyze performance and suggest process improvements to optimize work and improve customer service
  • Promote best practice and continuous process improvement across your team in areas like health and safety and productivity
  • Collaborate with other managers to standardize shift processes

A Day in the Life

You’ll work shifts and be based at one of our operational sites. Your main focus will be to maintain safety standards within your team and across your site, monitor and maintain process efficiency, prioritize routine team management and daily operational tasks, and handle individual escalations, process improvement work, and wide‑scale operational contingency planning.

Working with colleagues in other teams and external partners, you will keep our operations on track to meet customer demands and targets, analyze data and performance metrics with leaders in your business area, and discuss the pros and cons of technical improvements with engineers.

About the Team

Amazon Logistics (AMZL) handles ‘last mile’ delivery duties in partnership with third‑party distribution businesses. We use creative thinking and continuous improvement initiatives to get millions of physical products into the hands of customers, making their delivery experience as smooth as possible while rolling out global delivery solutions for Amazon Fresh, Prime Now, and Amazon Restaurants.

The team is people‑focused and supportive, especially as many of our associates work through the night. We focus mainly on operations, with 24 / 7 shifts in most of our locations. Meanwhile, our ‘on the road’ people work with Amazon Flex, a network of delivery contractors. We continually raise the bar for customer experience with new, innovative delivery services and new ideas to reduce our carbon footprint, supported by a portfolio of cutting‑edge vehicles and technology.

Basic Qualifications

  • 1+ years of employee and performance management experience
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, or 2+ years of Amazon (blue badge / FTE) experience
  • Work a flexible schedule / shift / work area, including weekends, nights, and / or holidays
  • Can push and pull wheeled dollies loaded with products up to 100 pounds during shifts
  • Spanish and English Advanced
  • Preferred Qualifications

  • 1+ years of performance metrics, process improvement or lean techniques experience
