General Summary :

The Director of Governance is a senior leadership role responsible for establishing, maintaining, and enhancing governance frameworks that align with company and regulatory requirements, industry best practices, and the strategic objectives of the business unit. This role ensures robust oversight, risk management, compliance, and ethical standards across all operations.

This role is a hands-on, execution role, requiring the ideal candidate to be involved in the end-to-end production of all governance materials as well as the usual secretariat functions. This team is an internal consultancy, required to produce slides on behalf of our Project Leads, working with them to independently verify the content to the satisfaction that the facts and approach is in line with the BU quality standards.

The ideal candidate will bring a significant background in management consulting, have deep experience in Stage Gate processes, deep expertise in transport sector governance and extensive experience operating within the Middle East, demonstrating a proven ability to navigate complex regulatory environments and diverse stakeholder landscapes.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities :

• Develop, implement, and monitor governance frameworks and policies that align with organizational goals, regulatory requirements, and international best practices.
• Take on accountability for the production, review and verification of all governance materials working to tight deadlines (across our Committees and Stage Gates).
• Provides flawless secretariat and process driven services including minute taking, decision registers, diary management of all meetings (pre-briefs, meetings, post-briefs etc.), follows up on all actions and is a safe pair of hands for the senior leadership team in transport.
• Understand the nuances of the governance processes within QIC and ensure robust stakeholder engagement, encouraging a no surprises model that takes our committee members on a journey supporting all decisions being made with comfort that they have been furnished with all the facts
• A continuous improver- be tapped into the internal organization business units’ governance functions to learn from their experience. After each governance session held, running formal and informal lessons learned and implementing all into the next iteration of our governance.
• Advise Transport senior management and the Board on governance matters including the meticulous tracking data to provide meaningful insights and opportunities for improvement.
• Manage governance training and awareness programs to embed governance principles at all levels.
• Lead a team of international staff, ensuring they hone their instincts for governance. Additionally, creating a warm, welcoming and nurturing environment for them to grow their talents.
