Key details about the role and the candidate
Responsible for the Safe, Effective and Trouble-Free operation of the rig in accordance with H&P Worldwide Standards, Policies and Procedures in a manner that meets or exceeds the Operator’s expectations.
Primary responsibilities
Take personal responsibility for own safety and conducting oneself to the standards of H&P policies and procedures.Take personal responsibility for and demonstrate leadership in HSE. Play a leading role in safety meetings and the safety programme.Provide leadership, guidance and coaching to direct reports, and manage their efforts to maximise their contribution to operational effectiveness and performanceBe familiar with the safe handling and operation of all drilling equipment tools and equipment on the rig.Be familiar with established drilling and well control procedures and practices including those in the H&P Well Control Manual.Ensure that the rig is operated in accordance with the design parameters and in conformance with H&P Worldwide Standards, Policies and Procedures.Be present at the rig floor or relevant area of the rig to direct all critical activitiesDirect enactment of the Operator’s drilling programs and manage H&P resources being applied to the drilling activities at site to achieve Safe, Effective and Trouble-Free operations.Develop a cooperative working relationship with the Operator’s representatives to achieve common goals.Assist the Toolpusher and Operator’s representative to conduct review of the drilling or work-over programmes.Assist the Toolpusher in maintaining all required records and documentation at rig site and produce accurate and timely reports on all aspects of rig operations and personnel matters.Assist the Toolpusher in ensuring the stock levels of spare parts and consumable for the drilling equipment is kept at an appropriate level by requesting the equipment is kept at an appropriate level by requesting the equipment whenever deemed necessary.Assist the Toolpusher in developing rig move plans and managing rig moves, taking personal responsibility for safely rigging-down and rigging-up of the drilling rig, camp and associated equipment.Assist the Toolpusher in coordinating rig move activities by supervising the activity of the drilling crew, the lifting activities and verifying that the equipment is correctly positioned on the new location.Assist the Toolpusher in the planning and preparation of upcoming jobs on the rig.Assist Drillers in delegating work for crew members and ensuring that it is carried out.Assist Electricians and Mechanics if needed to work on equipment or perform preventative maintenance as required.Assist the Operator’s representative in any matter he has concerning the rig or well if required.Assist the Toolpusher in ensuring that monthly rig inspections are performed.Establish a culture of continuous improvement in operations and demonstrate results in this regard. Work with the Operator’s site personnel and other site contractors to develop improved practices which will positively impact on drilling performance.Ensure that drilling operations are conducted in accordance with policies and practices of H&P, the Operator and relevant national authorities.Liaise with the Operator’s other contractors who are involved in operations to achieve cohesion in concurrent / simultaneous operations and cross-company teamwork and effectiveness.Assist the Toolpusher in taking responsibility for all HR matters at rig site, including training and development of expatriate and national staff in the rig crews, particularly about on-the-job training.Maintain the validity of personal certification and training together with that for the rig crewsEnsure that incident reports are filled out in detail and in a timely manner in the event of an incident, illness, near miss, equipment damage or environmental spill.Ensure an understanding of, and demonstrate compliance with, H&P Permit to Work system.Experience
