Safety Specialist | Jeddah & Al Qassim Silos Branches, Saudi Arabia
Reports to : HSSE Section Head
About the Role :
Ensure safety and compliance within SABIL branches by conducting risk assessments, implementing safety protocols, investigating incidents, and collaborating with local authorities. This includes overseeing safety applications within grain operations and maintaining a safe workplace in line with Saudi industrial and SABIL safety standards. Provide regular reports to the HSSE Supervisor to support decision-making and business continuity.
Safety Investigation, Emergency response and Implementation
- Implement SABIL safety strategies to minimize or eliminate safety hazards at warehouses, silos, ships unloading operations (if applicable), and other branch facilities.
- Lead safety program implementation efforts to foster a safety-conscious culture among employees.
- Ensure proper use of safety equipment and adherence to safety protocols in line with local standards and regulations.
- Conduct periodic safety inspections across branch premises to address any non-compliance promptly.
- Implement emergency response plans, covering scenarios such as fires, leaks, or accidents to ensure port branch employees are conducting operational activities aligned with local safety regulations, (If applicable).
- Establish and enforce safety protocols for warehouse activities, to minimize accidents and promote safe practices.
- Implement safety measures for working in silos, including confined space entry protocols, and conduct regular inspections of machinery to ensure proper maintenance and adherence to safety guidelines.
- Monitor health and hygiene practices to align labour low regulations.
- With the support of the departments, assess work areas to identify potential safety risks, ensuring compliance with local industrial safety regulations.
- Investigate workplace incidents and analyse root causes to ensure accurate response, minimize risks and prevent recurrence.
- Report recorded incidents to HQ HSSE department and support in further investigation.
- Support on conducting environmental impact assessments at the branch to ensure alignment with both SABIL and government environmental standards and regulations.
- Coordinate with the branch management and the HQ HSSE to liaise with local authorities to ensure accurate incident documentation and compliance to protect SABIL identify and prevent legal actions.
Warehouse Safety
Conduct risk assessments for material handling, storage, and equipment use in warehouses to create relevant safety protocols tailored to branch warehouse operations.Establish and enforce safety protocols to prevent accidents and promote safe practices.Ensure employees are aware of evacuation routes and fire safety procedures to ensure safety awareness in case emergency incidents occur.Silos Safety
Address confined space safety within silos.Regularly inspect machinery to maintain safety standards.Mitigate fall hazards associated with elevated platforms and grain handling equipment.Ship Unloading Safety (If applicable)
Coordinate with operations team to ensure safety regulations are implemented within the ships prior to conducting any further operations.Ensure life-saving equipment availability prior to conducting any loading and unloading operations to ensure all employees follow safety protocols.Support in the development and ensure the execution of ship-specific emergency response plans for scenarios like fires or leaks to ensure loading and loading operation function smoothly and prevent emergency risks.Qualifications
Required
Education :
Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related field.
Very good in English.
Experience : Minimum 3 years in safety, preferably in agriculture, logistics, or warehouse environments.
Certification : NEBOSH IGC3 or equivalent recognized safety certification.
Equivalent
Diploma with significant related experience.
Very good in English.
Experience : 5+ years of relevant experience without a degree.
Certification : OSHA, IOSH, or other equivalent international safety certifications.
