Overview

The Quality Control Manager is responsible for establishing, implementing, and overseeing the quality control processes and procedures for all architectural and engineering design deliverables produced by the firm. This role ensures that all designs, drawings, specifications, and other project-related documents meet established quality standards, regulatory requirements, and client expectations. The Quality Control Manager will work closely with project teams, discipline leaders, and senior management to foster a culture of quality and continuous improvement. Responsibilities

Develop, implement, and maintain the firm’s Quality Control (QC) Plan and related procedures for architectural and engineering design projects. Establish clear quality standards, checklists, and review protocols for various design phases and deliverable types. Conduct regular and thorough reviews of design documents (schematic design, design development, construction documents, specifications, calculations, reports, etc.) to identify errors, omissions, inconsistencies, and non-compliance with standards and regulations. Facilitate and participate in interdisciplinary coordination reviews to ensure seamless integration of all design disciplines (architectural, structural, MEP, etc.). Manage the QC review process, including scheduling reviews, assigning reviewers, tracking review comments, and ensuring timely resolution of issues. Document all QC activities, findings, and corrective actions in a clear and organized manner. Communicate review findings and recommendations effectively to project teams and discipline leaders. Track and analyze QC data to identify trends, areas for improvement, and potential risks. Develop and deliver training programs on quality control procedures and best practices for design staff. Stay up-to-date on relevant building codes, standards, regulations, and industry best practices. Participate in project kickoff meetings to establish quality expectations and review processes. Collaborate with project managers to ensure QC activities are integrated into project schedules and budgets. Contribute to the continuous improvement of design processes and standards based on QC feedback and lessons learned. Assist in the development and maintenance of BIM (Building Information Modeling) quality control protocols. Manage and mentor junior QC staff or reviewers, demonstrating strong leadership skills. Perform other duties as assigned by senior management. Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering (Civil, Structural, Mechanical, Electrical, or related field), Quality Management. A Master’s degree is a plus. Professional registration / licensure (e.g., Architect, Professional Engineer) is highly desirable. Minimum 10+ years of experience in architectural and / or engineering design, with a strong understanding of design processes, construction documents, and relevant codes and standards. Demonstrated experience in implementing and managing quality control processes in a design firm. Proficiency in reading and interpreting architectural and engineering drawings, specifications, and technical reports. Strong knowledge of relevant building codes, standards (e.g., SBC, ANSI, ASHRAE), and accessibility guidelines. Experience with BIM software (e.g., Revit, AutoCAD Civil 3D) and BIM quality control workflows is an advantage. Excellent attention to detail, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Strong communication (written and verbal), interpersonal, and presentation skills. Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment. Proficiency in relevant software applications (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite, project management software). Preferred Skills

Experience with quality management systems (e.g., ISO 9001). Certification in quality management (e.g., Certified Quality Manager – CQM). Experience in conducting internal audits. Personal Attributes
