Role purpose

The British Council is undertaking a strategic research initiative to explore the economic benefits of investing in English for governments around the world. As part of this work, we aim to gather insights from a diverse range of external stakeholders through surveys, structured interviews and focus groups. Role context

The role requires coordinating, facilitating, and reporting on a series of focus groups with young adults (aged 18 to 23) in Saudi Arabia. In addition, the role will provide broader project support including the scheduling of interviews and focus groups with other stakeholders as part of the project. It will work with the Future of English global team to ensure that the process is inclusive, methodologically sound, and yields actionable insights to inform other parts of the project and British Council work in the area. Main accountabilities

Planning and Design Participate in a briefing session (or more as required) with the Future of English team Translate young adult survey (developed by the Future of English team) from English to Saudi Arabia Translate young adult focus group protocols (developed by the Future of English team) from English to Saudi Arabia Identify and engage with potential partners to promote the young adult survey (in collaboration with British Council Saudi Arabia project focal point) Manage contact with participants of all project activities (survey, interviews and focus groups) with a particular emphasis on scheduling Facilitation Facilitate approximately 5 focus groups with maximum 4 young adult participants per focus group The focus groups will be facilitated online, in Arabic and recorded. Each focus group will last approximately 1 hour Ensure inclusive and culturally sensitive facilitation practices Reporting Transcribe, clean and anonymise each focus group recording. Guidelines for this will be provided by the Future of English team Translate each cleaned and anonymised transcript from Arabic to English Send the anonymised and cleaned transcripts to the Future of English team Person specification

Role specific knowledge and experience

Minimum / essential Facilitation, Interview conducting skills, Survey handling and translating from English to Arabic. Desirable Language Requirements Experience of working with young adults in Saudi Arabia.
