Role Purpose The Project Risk Controller is responsible for identifying, assessing, mitigating, and monitoring risks throughout the lifecycle of the project. This role ensures that risks are proactively identified and managed to support the project’s objectives in terms of scope, cost, schedule, quality, safety, and compliance. The Risk Controller works collaboratively with engineering, procurement, and construction teams, as well as end users, to develop and maintain a robust risk management framework tailored to the complexities of the project.
Key Accountabilities & Activities
Risk Planning & Identification
Develop and implement a comprehensive project risk management plan aligned with corporate and project requirements.
Conduct risk identification workshops with project stakeholders and subject matter experts.
Ensure compliance with local regulations and industry‑specific risk standards.
Risk Assessment & Analysis
Maintain and update the project risk register, including qualitative and quantitative analysis.
Perform risk assessments using tools such as Monte Carlo simulations, sensitivity analysis, and decision trees.
Analyze the impact of risks on project scope, cost, schedule, and performance.
Mitigation, Monitoring & Reporting
Monitor project progress and update the risk register to reflect emerging or resolved risks.
Work with the Project Manager and discipline leads to define and implement mitigation strategies and contingency plans.
Prepare and present risk status reports, trends, and mitigation effectiveness to senior management.
Ensure mitigation actions are tracked, implemented, and validated.
Coordination & Support
Coordinate with the Project Planner and Cost Controller to integrate risk analysis into planning, cost estimation, and schedule forecasting.
Support contract and procurement teams with risk‑related input for vendor selection and claims analysis.
Provide training and support to project teams on risk management tools and processes.
Job Specifications Knowledge / Skills
Proficiency in risk tools : Primavera Risk Analysis, @Risk, Oracle Crystal Ball, ARM.
Strong MS Office skills (Excel, PowerPoint) for reporting.
Familiarity with Primavera P6, MS Project, and EDMS systems.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Education / Certifications
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, or relevant field.
Experience
Minimum 5 years of experience in project risk management for large‑scale industrial, oil & gas, power, or infrastructure projects.
Experience with large‑scale plant construction preferred.
Strong understanding of Saudi Arabian project execution environments.
Experience in EPC (Engineering, Procurement & Construction) environments.
