Responsibilities

• Accountable for first line leadership and management of the mining team to enable the work of self and team members and develop their expertise and skills, delivering frontline team results such as safety, production, maintenance, quality, cost and motivation.
• Plan, manage and execute production and maintenance activities to meet targets and ensure safe operation.
• Develop and implement production visions for the mining section; balance resources (people, money, equipment) and ensure safe, compliant operations.
• Manage contracts and contractors; oversee shift personnel; rebalance personnel competency levels in shifts.
• Develop, manage and control budgets (OPEX / CAPEX) and the section budget; ensure financial discipline and cost control.
• Monitor and improve productivity; continuously reduce non-value-adding work and improve efficiency.
• Ensure HSERQ compliance, safety systems and plant safety requirements; lead incident reporting and root cause analysis; manage risk assessments and safety procedures.
• Lead and facilitate change and improvement initiatives; drive digitalisation within the section and maintenance discipline.
• Foster talent management : identify, develop and retain a competent workforce; support career progression and succession planning.
• Lead performance management of the team with regular reviews, recognition and corrective actions as needed.
• Ensure customer requirements are understood and met; maintain effective relationships with internal stakeholders and external service providers.
