Overview
The Investment Associate will be responsible for supporting the investment team in sourcing, analyzing, and evaluating investment opportunities. The role involves working closely with the senior investment professionals to conduct due diligence, prepare investment recommendations, and assist with portfolio management. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the startup ecosystem, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Conducting market research and analysis to identify potential investment opportunities and carry out initial assessment
- Conducting sector and technology mapping and advise the senior member of the team to develop areas of focus
- Analyzing financial statements and business models to evaluate investment opportunities
- Support the senior members of the team in conducting in-depth financial and commercial due diligence
- Contribute to valuation, deal negotiation and structuring exercise of potential investments
- Contribute to the preparation of investment memorandum and presentations for the investment committee
- Contribute to the closing of investment deals and review of definitive agreements
- Development of investment thesis on each transaction, social media blogs, and press releases
- Actively monitoring existing investments and developing reports on portfolio health and performance
- Work with other functions towards a unified organizational goal
- Support the senior members of the team in administrative tasks in ad hoc basis
- Building and maintaining relationships with entrepreneurs, industry experts, and other venture capital firms
- Contributing to the overall strategy and development of the firm
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in finance, business, engineering or relevant field4-6 years of experience in startups, investment banking, private equity, or venture capitalStrong analytical and financial modeling skillsExcellent communication and presentation skillsKnowledge of the startup ecosystem and emerging technologiesAbility to work independently and as part of a teamStrong work ethic and attention to detailFamiliarity with industry databases and research toolsWorking Conditions
The Investment Associate will work in a fast-paced environment, often under tight deadlines. The job may require occasional travel to meet with entrepreneurs or attend industry events. The position may also require working long hours or weekends, particularly during peak investment periods.
