Role Overview
Hands-on TIG welder for thin-gauge airframe structures on AS332 Super Puma, focused on two work scopes :
Canopy bayonet nut recess repair / patch and re-installation (bayonet nut ASN-A0069; TIG process on 1.0 mm sheet with surface treatment and paint touch-ups).
Cockpit door localized crack / weld repair and reinforcement (fabricate / form reinforcing plate; TIG bead or riveted solution; final primer / top-coat).
Key Responsibilities
Execute thin-sheet TIG welding on airframe aluminum (5xxx-series) per OEM procedures.
Fabricate / form reinforcement plates, drill / deburr to drawing, and fit per work card.
Perform TIG Category A welds on canopy patch; level weld bead and restore surface treatments (chemical conversion, primer, paint).
Where specified, apply PR compound and rivet patterns as an alternative to continuous welds.
Finalise surface protection (epoxy primer / top-coat) and complete re-installation activities.
Document work, trace materials (e.g., 5086 H111 sheet 1 mm; TIG rod / consumables), and sign off in Part-145 environment.
Qualifications
5–10+ years TIG welding on thin-gauge aircraft structures; strong hand skills on small, heat-sensitive parts.
Proven Super Puma (AS332) or comparable rotorcraft structural experience.
Ability to read / execute AH work cards and dimensional callouts; precise drilling and fit-up.
Understanding of pre- / post-weld surface treatments (conversion, primer, top-coat) per OEM.
Additional Information
OEM / AH welding approvals; coded TIG for aerospace aluminum.
Familiarity with door / canopy mechanisms and tolerances.
Experience with riveted alternatives and sealants (PR).
