Responsibilities
Provide practical advice and counsel for all matters including, but not limited to, policy review and creation, employment issues, contract and procurement issue, corporate matters, commercial transactions, and mergers and acquisitions.
Identify, analyze and report on important legislative and regulatory developments.
Provide legal counsel on issues arising from actual or anticipated lawsuits, and to prevent future ones.
Develop and recommend company policy and position on legal issues.
Conduct and coordinate research into a variety of legal issues.
Represent the company, as appropriate, in various legal proceedings both domestically and internationally.
Write, review, and edit reports, opinions, correspondence, contracts, and other legal documents.
Write and administer complex vendor, merchant, bank, client, and employment contracts as needed.
Respond to government investigations and queries as the principal point of contact.
Manage external counsel and general litigation; provide input on the decision whether to send matters to outside counsel and assist in the oversight of outside counsel as necessary.
Maintain proper corporate interactions with the relevant governmental bodies, legislatures and the community at large.
Lead all Legal activities in the department and ensure the appropriate governance framework is in place to enable business objectives to be met and return on investment maximized.
Preparation and / or reviewing any correspondence that have a legal nature.
Provide legal advice as requested.
Propose appropriate recommendations on company polices, and ensure safeguard the company’s interests and rights.
Protect the company against claims and lawsuits.
Manage team of corporate counsel and other members of the legal department.
People Management
Participate in the identification and recruitment of key talents for their respective Department.
Manage, guide and assist direct reports to perform their functional operations in accordance with set policies and procedures.
Set performance objectives, provide necessary support, evaluate / appraise the team and provide regular feedback on performance.
