Overview

We are seeking a Business Development Professional to join the National Champions Department, responsible for the delivery of end-to-end product development, entrepreneurship, and investment opportunities to convert lucrative business ideas into national champions that enable job creation and economic growth.

As a Business Development Professional, you will lead the activities of new business venturing including : screening, planning, development, and execution. This will include the evaluation of new business proposals and the development of moderately complex to complex new business ventures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Performs low to medium scope projects with considerable independence, or as part of a team on larger projects.
  • Screens complex business proposals using pre-defined filtering criteria, and researches relevant intelligence to back up screening results to estimate effort and resources required for pursuing pre-feasibility / Concept Paper development of qualified proposals.
  • Supports pre-feasibility and feasibility studies to establish technical, financial and commercial viability of new ventures and determine resources required for conducting feasibility studies and business planning of approved concepts.
  • Establish a business case to further develop complex business ventures and synthesize complex information from feasibility studies that serve as inputs to business plans.
  • Formulates economic / financial models for complex business proposals and present results of concept paper and / or business plans to management as directed by the supervisor.
  • Evaluates business opportunities including valuation techniques and methodologies, defining scope of due diligence required and coordinating due diligence activities.
  • Supports negotiation of agreements based on developed strategy, manage business portfolio, screen potential investors and perform other miscellaneous duties as directed.
  • Extends support beyond business analysis and planning and may be involved in the structuring and negotiation of deals to achieve final deal closure.
  • Directs the work of lower classified employees as well as qualified experienced professionals as may be required in some situations.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Accounting, or Industrial Engineering. Master’s degree MBA or equivalent is preferred.
  • A minimum of 9 years of experience in finance or business fields.
  • Knowledge of financial analysis of companies and valuation methodologies, commercial principles of a transaction, and different types of transactions.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and expert in PowerPoint designs and presentation skills.
  • Professional certification in finance CFA, CMA or PMP is preferred.
