Job description

The Senior Software Engineer will report directly to the Digital Lead of MENA. This role is responsible for designing and implementing software applications and digital tools with the primary objective of improving and automating business processes. The ultimate goal is to enhance work productivity and process efficiency throughout the organization.

A central component of this position involves maintaining the SAP S4H system for KSA HQ and GCC, providing user support, and working to increase the effectiveness and adoption of SAP within the business. Additionally, the Digital Engineer will represent KSA and GCC in Group Data Hub initiatives, ensuring all solutions comply with Group data standards.

Key Accountabilities

  • Understand business requirements and translate them into effective software application solutions.
  • Develop software solutions , ensuring compatibility with Group applications, while collaborating closely with relevant business functions.
  • Provide SAP support to KSA and GCC business users and promote the adoption of new SAP features to automate processes and boost productivity.
  • Liaise with SAP support providers to escalate and resolve technical issues promptly, ensuring that affected users are kept informed throughout the process.
  • Collaborate with business functions to implement and maintain various business systems
  • Work in partnership with the ENGIE Group applications team to represent KSA and GCC businesses during the implementation of Group applications.
  • Provide advice and guidance to BU entities on software development projects.
  • Evaluate existing applications and perform necessary updates to ensure operational continuity.
  • Ensure all business applications are compliant with licensing requirements.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive technical documentation for all applications.
  • Conduct risk assessments and business impact analyses before deploying changes from development into the live environment.
  • Adhere to ENGIE’s cybersecurity requirements during application development and implementation.
  • Maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive, personal, or business-critical data.
  • Perform regular updates and patches on software applications, accompanied by appropriate business impact analysis to ensure business continuity.
  • Follow the software development lifecycle (SDLC) methodology to ensure the sustainability and maintainability of all developed applications.

  • Qualifications

  • Graduate degree, preferably in Computer Science or Information Technology
  • Internationally recognized certification in software application development
  • Experience

  • Minimum of 4 years of professional software development experience
  • Strong knowledge of programming for various operating systems and platforms using a range of development tools
  • Strong knowledge of Power Bi and Power apps, and Microsoft office 365 copilot.
  • Familiarity with SAP 4Hana,
  • Knowledge and Skills

  • Proficiency in Java or C++ and object‑oriented design principles
  • Expertise in business intelligence tools, such as Microsoft PowerBI®, Power Apps
  • Experience with development on Microsoft Office 365 and Azure cloud platforms
  • In‑depth knowledge of SAP 4Hana implementation and its various modules
  • Familiarity with GenAI, such as Microsoft office 365 copilot
  • Understanding of functional areas across different departments to support SAP requests
  • Knowledge of professional software engineering and best practices, covering the full software development lifecycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations
  • Awareness of IT project management methodologies, such as PRINCE2 and PMP
