Specialist Engineer, PLC & Sub-Systems

Petro Rabigh . This position is within the Technical Support Services (TSD) department. TSD provides day-to-day facility engineering support for plant operation and high-level technical support for chronic facility failure issues related to Mechanical, Instrument, DCS & SIS. TSD is the custodian of PRC engineering standards, documents, and recommendation tracking. The Specialist Engineer, PLC & Sub-Systems is responsible for maintaining and improving manufacturing facilities in compliance with safety standards and reliability / integrity requirements. The role may supervise a team of engineers and others as applicable, to provide engineering support to operations and maintenance activities and to support OPEX / CAPEX projects within the area’s scope of work, in compliance with safety standards and requirements. Responsibilities
Lead or provide technical resolutions / recommendations to plant issues in the area of specialty to ensure reliable and safe plant operations. Lead or participate in multi-disciplinary teams to address or investigate major concerns / disruptions and / or improvement opportunities in the area of specialty. Develop or review technical deliverables to ensure solutions comply with engineering standards, reliability / integrity and safety requirements. Execute departmental initiatives and strategies to meet long-term company goals. Conduct performance reviews of subordinates and implement staff development programs in the concerned areas. Attend OME or other relevant communication meetings. Respond to queries or assignments not falling under the main key accountability. Education & Minimum Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in engineering in the following majors or equivalent from a reputable university. Technical experience in oil refining & petrochemical plants, preferably in a senior technical position. Majored in Electronics Engineering / Electrical Engineering (with major in Electronics) / Automation Systems Engineering / Control Engineering or similar relevant degree. Combined experience in design, commissioning, studies, calculation & troubleshooting. Demonstrated specialty and expertise with PLCs (Siemens S7 and Allen-Bradley) and PLC-based SCADA, HMI, Compressor Control Systems (CCC) and Governor Control Systems (Woodward) at expert level. Technical expert-level knowledge to review and guide the team for Root Cause Analysis, Reliability Studies, SIL Assessment & Validation. Certifications such as Professional Engineer or Certified Professional are highly desirable. Thorough knowledge of engineering practices, calculation methods, and design details related to field specialty. Extensive troubleshooting and commissioning experience in the field of specialty. Knowledge of process & operations, maintenance & engineering practices in refinery or petrochemical plants. Results orientation and lead by example. Demonstrated problem-solving skills and sound decision-making ability. Full technological orientation. Ability to guide and train engineers in related areas and act as technical commander during emergency conditions. Note :
