Eram Talent is looking for a dedicated Marine Husbandry Technician Supervisor (Coral) to join our team in Saudi Arabia. The Coral Husbandry Technician Supervisor plays a crucial role in the world's largest coral reef conservation, enhancement, and restoration project. This position will focus on implementing advanced coral restoration techniques, and an emphasis on Co-culture husbandry, to support production of a significant number of corals for reef restoration and enhancement purposes. The Technician Supervisor will be responsible for managing the co-culture and fish operational aspects of the coral nursery, as well as the core coral husbandry activities, ensuring efficient production and growth of corals, and contributing to the conservation efforts in the northeastern Red Sea, specifically near Shushah Island. This position will be expected to cover other aspects of the nursery when required
Responsibilities
- Oversee coral husbandry operations, including care, maintenance, and propagation of coral species.
- Monitor coral health and growth, conducting assessments to identify stressors and implement corrective actions.
- Develop and implement protocols for coral reproduction, including asexual propagation methods.
- Recognises and diagnoses coral diseases and implement appropriate response.
- Manage water quality parameters and environmental conditions to optimize coral growth and resilience.
- Collaborate with marine scientists and conservation teams on research projects and coral restoration initiatives.
- Conduct training sessions for staff on best practices in coral care and husbandry.
- Participate in public outreach and educational programs to promote awareness around coral conservation.
Requirements
A bachelor’s degree or higher in Marine Biology, Environmental Science, Aquaculture, or a related field.Minimum of 4 years of experience in coral husbandry or aquarium management.Work experience in Coral Husbandry with an emphasis on coral sexual reproductionPrevious experience working in remote or challenging locations, particularly in project-based environments.Strong knowledge of coral reef ecology, marine ecosystems, and conservation practices.Proficient in water quality testing, monitoring, and management techniques.Experience with coral propagation and rehabilitation techniques.Strong communication and collaboration skills for working within a multidisciplinary team.Ability to work effectively in diverse environments and under varying conditions.Willingness to engage in both office work and field activities.Fluency in English is required; knowledge of Arabic is a plus.
