Job description

Job Purpose

The Asst Finance Manager oversees all financial activities (excl costing) of their respective Business Division, ensuring compliance with accounting principles, legal regulations, policies & procedures, correct booking of transactions, analysis of transactions and financials, and proactive financial management. The position collaborates with other departments to analyze financial data, develop strategies for cost reduction, revenue, and profit enhancement, and provide insights to support timely decision‑making at the executive level. He is also responsible for coordination and timely completion of internal and external audits.

Key Accountabilities

  • Oversee all aspects of financial accounting process & transactions under his / her responsibility, timely and accurate month‑end and year‑end closing processes and proper general ledger maintenance.
  • Preparation of accurate and timely financial reports for the business unit within the Division.
  • Conduct regular review and analysis of transactions to detect incorrect / unusual recordings avoiding surprises.
  • Prepare and analyze financial statements, variance analysis, and other financial reports for senior management and stakeholders.
  • Ensure transactions are recorded accurately ensuring proper validation. Making month end provisions and accruals for services / products received but not invoiced. Ensure the principle of matching cost with revenue.
  • Ensuring 3‑way validation of invoices prior to booking and payment processing.
  • Develop strategic relationship with all stakeholders. Providing insights to senior management to support strategic decision‑making.
  • Identifying and driving cost saving initiatives including finance charges.
  • Participating in the budgeting process for the division, working closely with FPM & department heads.
  • Develop and implement financial policies & procedures and ensure compliance.
  • Establishing and maintaining internal control procedures to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with accounting standards (such as IFRS / GAAP) and regulations.
  • Identifying and assessing financial risks faced by the division, such as currency risk, interest rate risk, and credit risk. Implementing strategies to mitigate these risks.
  • Overseeing the implementation and maintenance of financial systems and software to streamline processes and enhance efficiency. Drive process improvements and automation initiatives to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Contributing to the development of the group’s financial strategy and objectives. Providing recommendations to improve financial performance and optimize resource allocation.
  • Communicating financial information effectively to stakeholders, including senior management.
  • Monitor and analyze financial performance against budget and forecast, identifying areas for improvement, and implementing corrective actions as needed.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to support business initiatives and strategic projects, providing financial expertise and guidance.
  • Coordinate with external and internal auditors to facilitate the audit process and ensure timely completion of audit deliverables.
  • Evaluating investment opportunities and capital expenditure projects within the division. Conducting cost‑benefit analysis and providing recommendations to senior management.
  • Leading and managing the finance team within the division. Providing guidance, training, and support to ensure the team's effectiveness and professional development.

Minimum Qualifications and Knowledge

Professional qualification like ACA, CPA, ACCA, CIMA

Minimum Experience (no. of years)

Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in accounting and finance roles, with at least 5 years in a managerial or leadership position.

  • Thorough knowledge of accounting principles, practices, and regulations, with experience in financial reporting, auditing, and internal controls.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to interpret complex financial data and make informed decisions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Proven leadership abilities, with a track record of building and motivating high‑performing teams.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel, words, power point; experience with ERP systems preferred.
