An inventory accountant is responsible for monitoring and recording all inventory transactions. They ensure the accuracy of inventory data, conduct audits, and prepare reports for management.

Responsibilities Record all inventory transactions in the accounting system. Monitor inventory levels, conduct audits and reconciliations, and correct discrepancies to ensure accuracy. Prepare inventory reports, including valuation, variance analysis, and cost of goods sold. Analyze inventory trends and suggest process improvements. Collaborate with purchasing, manufacturing, and sales departments for accurate inventory forecasting and planning. Manage and report on inventory-related expenses such as freight and storage costs. Ensure compliance with GAAP and company policies for inventory accounting. Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field. Minimum of two years of experience in inventory accounting. Familiarity with accounting software and inventory management systems. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills. Excellent communication skills and attention to detail.
