Responsibilities
Oversee the transportation of raw materials (e.g., metals, alloys) to the production floor and the delivery of finished castings to customers or warehouses.
Manage the scheduling of incoming and outgoing shipments, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery.
Coordinate with external freight providers and ensure adherence to delivery schedules and cost-efficiency.
Supervise the movement of heavy and oversized steel components, ensuring proper handling and compliance with safety standards.
Collaborate with warehouse and procurement teams to ensure the seamless flow of materials, including managing transportation schedules for raw materials and finished products.
Track deliveries and update inventory in the ERP system; assist in coordinating logistics for stock replenishment, including transport planning and cost estimation.
Develop and implement strategies to optimize delivery routes and minimize transportation costs while maintaining efficiency.
Monitor logistics performance indicators (e.g., delivery times, fuel consumption) and identify opportunities to improve operations.
Supervise logistics staff, including drivers, warehouse personnel, and external service providers; assign tasks and monitor performance.
Provide training and development opportunities to improve skills, safety awareness, and operational efficiency; foster collaboration with internal departments.
Ensure all logistics operations comply with safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements, particularly for transporting hazardous materials where applicable.
Conduct safety audits and ensure vehicles and handling equipment are properly maintained and safe to operate.
Contribute to continuous improvement of logistics processes using Lean principles and other best practices to reduce lead times and costs, while improving customer satisfaction.
Qualifications & Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related field.
3–5 years of experience in logistics or transportation management, preferably in an industrial or manufacturing environment (e.g., steel foundries or metal industries).
Strong understanding of transportation regulations, safety protocols, and logistics management systems.
Experience with logistics software (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and fleet management systems.
Ability to manage a team, communicate effectively, and resolve logistics-related issues efficiently.
Strong organizational, problem-solving, and multitasking skills to manage complex logistics operations.
Knowledge of warehouse operations, inventory management, and shipping documentation.
