Senior Design Engineer | LV Switchgear
To design low-voltage (LV) switchgear and controlgear systems in alignment with customer specifications, international standards, and safety regulations. The role covers the full project lifecycle, from concept and detailed design to production support, testing, and commissioning, while ensuring engineering excellence, compliance, and efficiency. Key Responsibilities
Develop detailed electrical designs for LV switchgear and controlgear panels, including single-line diagrams (SLDs), wiring schematics, general arrangement (GA) drawings, and bills of materials (BOMs). Select appropriate LV components (circuit breakers, contactors, relays, meters, current transformers, power supplies, PLCs, etc.) according to design and regulatory requirements. Ensure all designs comply with IEC 61439 and other relevant international and local standards. Perform key electrical calculations such as short-circuit analysis, discrimination studies, CT sizing, temperature rise, and protection coordination. Collaborate with mechanical design, production, and procurement teams to ensure accurate and efficient manufacturability of designs. Review and interpret customer specifications, providing technical input during bidding and tendering phases. Provide engineering support during manufacturing, factory acceptance testing (FAT), and site installation / commissioning. Lead and participate in design reviews, risk assessments, and continuous improvement initiatives. Maintain documentation, revision control, and adherence to project schedules. Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior design engineers and draftsmen. Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering. 7–12 years of proven experience in LV switchgear design engineering. Strong knowledge of IEC 61439 and other relevant LV international standards. Deep understanding of protection and control principles, motor control centers (MCCs), and power distribution boards. Proficiency in AutoCAD, EPLAN, and other electrical design software tools. Solid background in power system protection, control schemes, and interlocking logics. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and leadership skills. Strong communication skills with the ability to coordinate effectively with stakeholders.
