Job Summary
In this role, you will work with the project team to develop, maintain and analyze schedules for engineering studies, proposals or contract negotiations. You will apply established unit job hour and pricing data, perform schedule integrations, prepare work logic, identify restraints and potential impacts, develop recovery plans, and evaluate subcontractor schedules for improvements. You will be instrumental in ensuring projects stay on track and on time.
Major Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain detailed project schedules using Primavera P6 and other planning tools
- Prepare schedule data for proposals or contract negotiations
- Establish and maintain the schedule for a specific discipline area or specialty
- Develop schedules to include establishing the work breakdown structure (WBS), determining the work activity durations and workflow logic ties, and developing the required job expenditure
- Monitor schedules including identifying critical activities and updating functions for specific applications, disciplines or specialties
- Generate critical path reports and schedule performance metrics, perform critical path analysis and identify schedule risks and opportunities, determine critical path activities for assigned discipline or specialty work activities supporting interdisciplinary requirements
- Flag activities with critical or potential schedule impact, identify restraints and develop recovery plans
- Perform schedule resource loading and leveling
- Support earned value management (EVM) and progress measurement systems
- Collaborate with discipline leads to validate activity durations, logic, and resource requirements
- Prepare schedule reports, dashboards, and presentations for internal and external stakeholders
- Participate in and lead schedule reviews and provide recommendations for improvements or recovery plans, prepare and present planning and scheduling information to management and clients
- Ensure compliance with Bechtel project controls procedures and standards
- Participate in developing and presenting training classes on designated subjects and on‑job training for specific processes and practices
Education and Experience Requirements
Bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) in engineering or construction management8-10 years of relevant experience in planning / scheduling and project controls related functions on large-scale EPC projects, preferably in the Energy industryRequired Knowledge and Skills
Demonstrated initiative and ability to work independently in fast‑paced, multidisciplinary environmentsStrong verbal and written communication; effective collaboration across multi‑discipline teams; skilled in presenting planning and project controls information to senior management and clientsSolid understanding of project controls principles including earned value management (EVM), forecasting, and risk analysisAdvanced proficiency in Primavera P6 and Microsoft Excel; experience with engineering and cost‑schedule integration and reporting tools (e.g. EcoSys, TeamWorks, SetRoute); PowerBI experience preferredAbility to independently plan, organize, perform, review, and present schedule products using professional judgment and technical expertiseStrong analytical skills for interpreting technical processes, engineering drawings, and quantity take‑offsComprehensive understanding of the full project lifecycle, including engineering, procurement, contracts, construction, and startup, gained through formal training or hands‑on experienceDiverse teams build the extraordinary
