Senior Plant Design & Piping (PD&P) Engineer Bechtel is looking for a Senior PD&P Engineer who has extensive experience with executing greenfield and brownfield scope within a project with a proven track record of executing technical challenges in plant design and piping engineering and design.
The role has a range of responsibilities and will focus on the technical execution of the project but will also involve planning and scheduling and conducting evaluations, selection of applications and adaptations of engineering procedures and technical criteria within the plant design and piping discipline. As well as front end and detailed design the position includes the preparation of conceptual studies, designs, reports and proposals.
Major Responsibilities
Participate in the day-to-day Plant Design and Piping engineering activity on large complex projects that require major plant design and piping effort.
Participate in Plant Design and Piping activities in multiple execution centres and / or with joint venture partners, ensuring consistency throughout the design.
Maintain contact with other disciplines to ensure the coordination of the work within the project(s) and compliance with Bechtel / client requirements.
Preparation / checking of 2D deliverables including plot plans, vessel orientations and isometrics.
Interpretation and application of PFDs, P&IDs and piping classes.
Review and comment on supplier documentation.
Responsible for design, deliverables and inter-discipline interfaces for a particular scope or area.
Work in accordance with company / project design guides and procedures and plan and execute work in an organized manner.
Able to communicate complex technical issues and recommend solutions.
Participate in design reviews, both internal and with clients.
Understands typical project information workflows and internal / external customers.
Reviews and makes recommendations for the Plant Design and Piping aspects of bid evaluations.
Prepare and review key calculations, design documents, supplier drawings and data, material specifications, drawings and change orders.
Coordinate with client representatives, and other third parties, to obtain their approval of Plant Design and Piping aspects of the work, including 3D model reviews, and all deliverables submitted for review.
Provide technical support to project teams and ensure safety and technical quality is maintained.
Provide the technical input to meet Estimating and Procurement requirements.
Provide technical support to internal and external customers.
Education and Experience Requirements
A recognized degree in a job related engineering or scientific discipline from an accredited college or university, or a professional license in an appropriate engineering discipline from a recognized licensing board.
Experience in executing Middle Eastern projects, brownfield experience and familiarity with Aramco standards and specifications is highly desirable.
At least 10 years of PD&P design related experience in Petrochemical, Energy Transition or Oil and Gas industry.
Pre-FEED and FEED experiences in related types projects.
Required Knowledge and Skills
Extensive knowledge of applicable industry / regulatory codes and standards, and design and / or layout criteria.
Extensive knowledge of precedents in the discipline and of principles and practices of related disciplines.
Good understanding of related construction practices and the economics involved.
Knowledge of systems, calculations, equipment, materials and software and methods of application for Plant Design and Piping discipline.
High standard of oral and written communication, and use of MSOffice applications.
Knowledge of typical Engineering Department Procedures, Design Guides, appropriate Standard Computer Applications and administrative practices.
Knowledge of application, use and coordination of 2-D and 3-D Design (CAD) tools on a project, ideally including microstation and Smart3D.
Applies broad and diversified knowledge of engineering principles and practices to project engineering.
Makes decisions independently concerning problems within the discipline on the project.

Proactively ensures designs are safe, promoting health and safety of construction and operations personnel as well as preventing damage to the environment.
