To support and oversee the operations of the Center of Excellence nursery (CoE), we are looking for a Senior Technical Manager for Nursery Operations. This role focuses on high-level supervision, ensuring contractor compliance, improving nursery efficiency, and integrating scientific advancements into operations.

Responsibilities

Supervisory & Technical Oversight

• Monitor and evaluate the contractor’s performance, ensuring adherence to contractual obligations regarding plant production schedules, timelines, and quality control.
• Conduct technical assessments of nursery operations, including facility maintenance, plant health, and compliance with best horticultural practices.
• Oversee the entire plant production cycle, from seed germination and propagation to transplanting and final plant distribution.
• Ensure the contractor follows best practices in irrigation management, soil health, fertilization, and pest control.
• Implement quality control measures to guarantee the production of healthy, resilient trees and shrubs.
• Provide technical guidance and strategic recommendations to improve the contractor’s workflow efficiency, sustainability measures, and overall productivity.

Contractor Performance & Compliance

• Regularly inspect and audit nursery operations to ensure compliance with environmental regulations, project goals, and sustainability guidelines.
• Identify and address operational inefficiencies or gaps in contractor performance, ensuring timely corrective actions.
• Supervise risk management strategies to protect against pest outbreaks, plant diseases, and environmental challenges.
• Provide detailed reports on contractor adherence, identifying areas for continuous improvement and corrective measures.

Collaboration & Research Integration

• Work closely with the Living Laboratory and Seed Bank teams to integrate scientific research and innovative technologies into nursery operations.
• Introduce data-driven methodologies to optimize growing conditions, plant survival rates, and species selection.
• Ensure that all nursery activities align with the client Program’s sustainability and biodiversity targets.

Training & Knowledge Transfer

• Supervise the training and mentorship of nursery staff, ensuring the contractor’s workforce is well-equipped with the latest horticulture and nursery management practices.
• Conduct workshops and hands-on training on best practices in plant production, nursery logistics, and sustainability approaches.
• Promote continuous learning and innovation, encouraging the adoption of cutting-edge horticultural techniques.

Strategic Innovation & Sustainability Compliance

• Stay updated on the latest advancements in nursery production technology, ensuring their implementation at CoE.
• Promote the use of sustainable growing methods that minimize water usage, reduce environmental impact, and enhance long-term plant resilience.
• Align nursery operations with urban greening and biodiversity conservation goals, contributing to Riyadh’s environmental transformation.
