District Geologist adopt discovery-oriented mentality to leads teams and programs toward discoveries and exceptional acquisitions. Implement efficient exploration programs and evaluate proposed projects. Formulate short and intermediate term business plans; ensuring alignment with the organization's overall strategy. The District Geologist is responsible for exploration activities over a significant district, ensuring continuity of work required.
Key qualifications and skills include :
- Experience across a range of exploration terrains or belts (at least 2) and significant knowledge of at least 2 commodities, with understanding of a further 2 or deep expertise in a single commodity or exploration process.
- Knowledge of at least 2 major classes of mineralization.
- Familiarity with the full range of exploration methods and processes, and the ability to select the most effective ones.
- Budgeting and financial skills.
- Knowledge of several deposits through extensive field visits or mine site secondments.
- Ability to deduce three-dimensional geology from geophysical and geochemical data.
- Capability to visualize, describe, and defend 3D geological ore body models for most target commodities.
- Recognition of unusual and anomalous data and understanding their implications.
- Application of known concepts to unfamiliar situations.
- Ability to describe geological trends clearly.
- Decisiveness and strategic thinking.
- Experience in developing others and stimulating enthusiasm for projects and tasks.
- Effective delegation and leadership skills, with proven results through others.
- Logical, well-organized approach and the ability to argue cases convincingly.
- Follow-up to ensure timely completion of tasks with quality results.
