Overview
Pipe Care Group of companies has been helping the customers ensure the integrity of their pipeline and facility assets for over 20 years. Pipe Care Group is looking for an experienced Polyurethane Technician (PU Technician) who can understand design drawings, has knowledge of chemicals involved in molding / fabrication polyurethane, and can plan to deliver polyurethane products on time to meet target dates.
Key Responsibilities & Authorities
- Producing and repairing polyurethane products using different molds.
- Be aware of PU (chemical) raw materials, TDS, MSDS and PU procedures.
- Have adequate knowledge of chemical processing and storage.
- Secure raw material stock for PU production on a quarterly basis and maintain stock for a minimum of six months.
- Ensure standard spare parts stock is maintained for PU machines / ovens in the workshop and troubleshoot machines when required.
- Prepare plans daily, weekly and monthly for PU production.
- Have adequate knowledge of drafting software like Auto-Cad / ZWCAD to draw and print templates for drilling / cutting PU products.
- Use testing tools, dies, jigs or molds to ensure proper operation.
- Set up and operate casting machines and curing ovens to cast polyurethane products, along with other supporting machines like drill and lathe for finalizing products as per documents.
- Physically handle heavy duty PU molds and polyurethane finished products for placing in / out at curing ovens operating at 100˚C.
- Read and interpret machine operation and maintenance manuals and rectify errors on time. Maintain PU / oven / drilling / lathe machine spare parts on an annual basis.
- Aim to achieve monthly production goals while maintaining an acceptable attendance to production ratio.
- Position, secure, measure, and lay out polyurethane stock or castings for machining.
- Ensure delivery of finished products on time with approval from the quality department.
- Lay out, shape and assemble patterns of plastic and other materials from blueprints, models or templates.
Skills / Experience
Diploma in Chemical or Mechanical or Intermediate.Minimum 3-5 years of experience in polyurethane production environment.Preferred : Molding / Casting experience in discs, cups, wheels, foam pigs manually and by machine.Preferred : educational courses related to elastomers and mechatronics.Fluency in English; working knowledge of other languages is a plus.Physical and Mental Requirements
Lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds.Mobility to walk and climb in a refinery or plant environment and access elevated platforms via ladders and stairwells.Clear speech and hearing or other communication capabilities to communicate effectively.Focus and multitasking ability.Safety equipment : able to wear safety equipment as required by the safety department.Sufficient mobility and reflexes, with or without reasonable accommodations, to perform office duties and travel to off-site locations when necessary.About PIPECARE Group
