Infection Control Charge Practitioner
at
Dr Sulaiman AlHabib Medical Centers Responsible for the activities of the Infection Control Team and infection surveillance, analysis and reporting, and the development and implementation of policies and procedures to ensure rigorous infection prevention and control standards within the hospital in compliance with CDC and international accreditation requirements. Conduct training in both universal and specific infection control practices, supervise learning, and assist staff to integrate theory to practice. Participate in the clinical and administrative coordination of health care services within the hospital for effective management of manpower and physical resources for the institution. Responsibilities / Key Responsibilities
Oversee and coordinate all activities related to Infection Control in the institution and implement, upon appropriate coordination, all Infection Control Programs for the hospital in accordance to established standards and accreditation requirements. Participate in the planning, development and implementation of In-Service Education programs directly related to the new employee Orientation Programs. Ensure the establishment and maintenance of standards for Infection Control on a hospital-wide basis. Prepare, review and evaluate all procedures and policies related to Infection Control and provide necessary clarification for Unit Heads, other departmental managers and professional staff. Support and uphold the objectives and goals of the Infection Control Committee and collaborate with committee members and their designated Unit members. Collaborate with appropriate administrative, medical and non-medical staff to uphold patient care standards related to Infection Control. Initiate and participate in programs and related projects that uphold and augment the mission of Infection Control. Prepare and submit complete periodic Infection Control reports and compliance updates of the staff in the institution. Review the quality and maintenance of environmental cleanliness and report related concerns to the appropriate department head. Investigate significant outbreaks and identify the source of infection in any hospital unit; consult with the Infection Control Team, Medical Director, Infectious Disease physician and Infection Control Committee for defined action and prevention of further spread. Mandate compliance with the standards set by the CDC and national and international accreditation committees to achieve / maintain qualification. Report any occurrence not consistent with hospital operation or standard of service that may place patients, staff or visitors at risk. Conduct daily rounds in all hospital units to discuss, monitor and track infection control practices with staff. Review data on hospital-associated infections from all hospital departments and maintain records; coordinate prevention maintenance with the Infection Control Committee. Conduct and review continuous surveillance to detect infection sources; investigate incidences of hospital-associated infections, generate reports and forward copies to the chairperson of the Infection Control Committee and Director of Nursing. Monitor implementation of preventive infection control measures, provide guidance to staff and counsel as necessary. Collaborate with CSSD staff on sterilization, unit facility management and related infection control practices; coordinate with housekeeping on waste disposal and management. Collaborate with the Facility and Safety Officer for scheduled construction and reconstruction of units to ensure infection control standards are met. Oversee available resources, space, staff and equipment with planning, economy and value for money in mind. Respond to problems, conflicts and complaints in a timely, logical and knowledgeable manner, following established policies and procedures. Maintain confidentiality of patient and personnel data and report matters affecting safety or quality of care as required. Review staff performance and address personnel and administrative issues; provide counselling as needed. Participate in, and lead, person-centered care initiatives undertaken by the organization. Enrich patient experience with compassion, respect and dignity. Perform other applicable tasks and duties within the scope of knowledge, skills and abilities. Requirements
Education / Professional Qualification
Bachelor’s degree in nursing Experience
Minimum of five (5) years of experience; preferably with work experience in the Middle East Professional Licensing / Certification / Training
BLS, Epidemiology, Infection control, or relevant certifications Saudi Council & Licensed from Country of Origin Seniority level
