Senior Manager - Backend Software Engineering

Overview

The role involves Java-related duties across the software development lifecycle, from concept and design to testing. The candidate will create user information solutions through the development, implementation, and maintenance of Java-based components and interfaces. The role works closely with Business Analysts and Product Owners to refine user stories and requirements and to identify, prioritize, and execute tasks within the software development life cycle. The role mentors junior developers and works independently and proactively. Responsibilities

Works with Business & Products to determine needs and develops the appropriate software to meet those requirements. Plans and executes deployment of system features and monitors for successful integration, maintaining the system throughout its lifecycle. Leads the design and architecture of software systems. Conducts testing of completed code modules with the help of junior Java developers. Assists other developers with troubleshooting, debugging, and coding. Manages project timelines and deliverables. Guides and mentors teams of developers. Interfacing with stakeholders to understand business requirements. Reviews code to ensure quality and adherence to standards. Drives innovation and stays updated with the latest industry trends. Contributes to strategic decisions about technology, definition, and implementation of software products. Enforces, incorporates, and complies with all necessary controls and related information security (EIS) policies, procedures, practices, training, reporting, personal due diligence and vigilance within departmental / unit activities and operations. Qualifications

Preferred : A tertiary-level qualification from an internationally recognized institution. Years & Nature of Experience : 5 to 7 years of equivalent experience in Software Development, primarily with Java technologies. Working knowledge of relational database concepts and SQL beyond simple queries. Experience in a full software development lifecycle environment under Agile methodologies; ability to lead software design and implementation best practices (Unit Testing, Test Driven Development, Continuous Integration, Source Control, etc.). Either a specialist individual contributor or a team lead who has managed and delivered projects; has team or technical supervision skills. Demonstrated expertise with complex technical activities and experience working with senior staff on large projects or internal relationships. Technical Competencies
