Job Purpose :
The Sustainability Manager is responsible for the development and implementation of sustainability strategies across all phases of the project. The role ensures the integration of environmental, social, and economic sustainability practices in all aspects of the project. The Sustainability Manager works to achieve both short-term and long-term sustainability goals, ensuring compliance with local and international environmental regulations and standards.
Key Responsibilities :
Developing Sustainability Strategies
- Design and develop a comprehensive sustainability plan covering all project phases from design through to construction.
- Define sustainability goals in collaboration with project teams and ensure alignment with overall project objectives.
Overseeing Sustainability Policies Implementation
Coordinate with all departments to ensure sustainability policies are integrated at all stages of the project.Ensure compliance from contractors and suppliers with sustainability principles.Compliance with Environmental Standards
Ensure compliance with the latest global and local environmental standards such as LEED, BREEAM, ISO 20121, etc.Track progress toward achieving targeted sustainability certificationsManaging Environmental Initiatives
Oversee the implementation of carbon reduction, waste management, water conservation, and energy efficiency initiatives.Provide guidance on the use of sustainable materials and certified products.Monitoring Environmental Performance
Develop tools for measuring and monitoring environmental performance across the project.Collect and analyze data related to carbon emissions, energy use, water consumption, and waste to ensure sustainability goals are met.Prepare regular sustainability reports and present them to relevant stakeholders.Stakeholder Coordination
Continuously communicate with stakeholders, including contractors, engineers, consultants, and suppliers, to ensure sustainability compliance.Organize workshops and meetings to ensure all parties understand sustainability objectives.Audit and Review Management
Conduct internal and external sustainability audits to ensure compliance with sustainability practices.Participate in review processes to identify opportunities and challenges related to sustainability.Strategic Guidance and Training
Provide strategic guidance and training to both technical and administrative teams to ensure best sustainability practices are applied.Engage with research and development teams to adopt innovative solutions for sustainability.Skills
Required Qualifications :
Academic Credentials
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Sustainability Management, or a related field.A Master’s degree in Sustainability or Environmental Management is a plus.Professional Experience
Minimum of 8 years of experience in sustainability management for large-scale projects (preferably in the construction or infrastructure sector).Practical experience in applying international environmental standards and certifications (such as LEED, BREEAM, ISO 20121).Strong knowledge of carbon reduction practices, energy and water efficiency, and waste management strategies.Skills
Project management skills with the ability to coordinate multiple teams.Strong analytical skills with the ability to make informed decisions.Excellent communication and leadership skills with the ability to influence and persuade.In-depth knowledge of local and international environmental regulations and standards.Required Certifications and Accreditations
