Description
The Manager, Structural, is responsible for directing all structural related operations for Zone D, including new build rigs and other offshore structures in the yard. Supervises all related structural activities in the workshop, construction pads and grand assembly areas, ensuring works are carried out safely, on time and on budget, in accordance with the project contractual obligations and IMIMS. Works closely with the GM Production, Production Manager, Project Managers, and the Production teams to ensure all assigned scopes are executed as described.
Ensures production line efficiency and housekeeping in the workshop or onboard, prepares cost estimates for production / projects, collaborates across departments, communicates results to higher management, drives a team to safely complete tasks within aggressive timelines, and applies a proactive, solution-oriented mindset.
Key Accountabilities
- Ensure that all structural related activities are meticulously planned and clearly communicated.
- Develop comprehensive project / production plans with detailed schedules, budgets, and resource allocation.
- Lead fabrication and welding teams, providing leadership and technical guidance on steel works.
- Ensure all fabrication and welding work meets the required quality standards and regulatory requirements.
- Coordinate with the Procurement Supply Chain Group to procure materials and equipment per contract requirements.
- Interact effectively with other disciplines, management and supervision as required.
- Monitor actual man-hours against budgeted man-hours and take corrective actions.
- Control overtime to maximize project margins.
- Ensure use of materials and equipment complies with procedures and manufacturer recommendations.
- Ensure installation, maintenance and commissioning activities meet approved procedures.
- Liaise with the engineering department about steel works activities to ensure schedule adherence.
- Lead daily / weekly progress reporting and ensure accurate physical progress and ITR delivery.
- Provide feedback for bid preparations, feasibility, tendering, and planning forecasts.
- Maintain control measures for safety, environmental aspects and housekeeping across all project areas.
- Prepare department budgets and propose process optimizations for CAPEX, OPEX, and manpower planning.
- Ensure competence level in the Structural Department meets IMI’s requirements.
- Facilitate training and development of personnel.
- Acquire relevant certifications for specialized works as defined by IMI’s strategy.
- Manage and direct subcontractors to meet all contract obligations.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement, cost optimization, and efficiency enhancement.
- Perform other related duties as per management direction.
Requirements
Education – Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent.Marine-related Professional Qualifications – Relevant certifications in steel manufacturing or shipbuilding are advantageous.Experience – At least 15–18 years’ experience in ship repair, oil & gas or shipyard environments with depth in steel works.Employment type
