Overview
Be responsible for implementing the environmental, health and safety (EHS), policies and procedures of the plant, the corporation and the government. Assist in establishing the EHS management system and the company Safety System. Ensure all operations, maintenance, administration and other related services and activities are performed in a safe, healthy and environmentally friendly manner so that all employees are injury free and have a level degree of consciousness about safety and environmental issues. Coordinate control of hazards to ensure hazard minimization and regulatory compliance. Effectively support of all safety, health and environmental initiatives to drive results and a culture of zero accidents. Support General Manager to ensure compliant EHS management and implement assigned tasks.
Key Process (Ownership / Participation)
Learn, understand and implement the prescribed EHS policies, procedures and standards of the company. Including the Safety System, corporate EHS policies, and local and national regulations.
Maintain all documentation and files related to policies, regulatory compliance records, training and licensing, SOP’s, and other miscellaneous records and systems.
Communicate regularly with plant employees for purposes of awareness, training and auditing
Advise the plant on new and revised governmental regulations related to EHS; advise the management team of impact of changes and suggest improvements.
Advise on hazards and risks and their control. Implement proactive plans for preparedness.
Interact with inspectors during audits and follow up to ensure compliance with requirements; act as contact person with other plants and corporate SHE resources
Initiate investigation of accidents and incidents when they happen, find the root cause and recommend corrective action.
Monitor the services of third party maintenance contractors
Work permit management, e.g. hot work, work at height etc.
Responsible for solid waste treatment, include hazardous waste; manage special equipment (e.g., forklift, pressure vessel) and medical exam management.
Compliance & Operations
Ensure compliance with legal requirements
Initiate fire fighting equipment management (fire hydrants, fire extinguishers, emergency lights etc).
Provide EHS training, e.g. orientation EHS training, PPE training, chemical safety training, contractors safety training.
Chemicals management, prepare for and update MSDS, chemical safety labels.
Tour the plant to perform EHS inspections, identify and correct potential hazards, and ensure compliance with safety rules and regulations.
Support other departments as requested

Reports to the manufacturing general manager.
Team member of Safety Leadership Committee, safety subcommittee and Plant Staff.

Education & Work Experience
University degree in an engineering-related field
Minimum 3–5 years of related work experience in a manufacturing environment; experience in safety and security management on construction is preferable
Good communication and teamwork skills
Fluent English in reading and writing
Good computer skills (Microsoft Office & network user)
Specialized Knowledge & Skills
Professional Knowledge - knowledgeable of EHS rules, familiar with national rules regarding environment and health for either plant or employee. Strong sense of safety rules and good at coaching and implementing.
Good interpersonal & communication skills - able to work with various levels of employees related to EHS issues.
Process orientation – strong implementation skills within prescribed timeframe
Computer skills - proficient at computer usage and running reports as necessary for management
English skills - good at writing and speaking
Experience as a trainer is a plus
Work Environment & Physical Demands
May be necessary to work in dusty and noisy environments for a long period.
Mainly work in a daylight office background; routine shop-floor inspection is expected.
Keep close contact with local government departments; very few national business trips are required.
