Description
The Welding Inspector is responsible for ensuring the quality and safety of welding operations by conducting thorough inspections and tests of welds and materials. This role requires a keen eye for detail and a strong understanding of welding processes, codes, and standards.
Responsibilities
- Conduct inspections of welding work to ensure compliance with specifications and standards.
- Review and interpret welding specifications, procedures, and drawings.
- Prepare and maintain detailed inspection reports and documentation.
- Identify and report any defects or non-conformance in welds and related materials.
- Collaborate with welding teams to ensure quality standards are met throughout the welding process.
- Perform tests on welds such as visual inspections, ultrasonic testing, and radiographic testing.
- Ensure adherence to safety standards and regulations during welding operations.
Skills and Qualifications
5-10 years of experience in welding inspection or related field.Proficient in reading and interpreting engineering drawings and specifications.Familiarity with various welding processes and techniques (e.g., MIG, TIG, Arc).Strong knowledge of welding codes and standards (e.g., ASME, AWS, ISO).Experience with non-destructive testing (NDT) methods and techniques.Certifications such as Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) or equivalent are preferred.Excellent attention to detail and strong analytical skills.Good communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with teams.Skills Required
