Job description

Responsibilities

  • You will be responsible for install, maintain, support / troubleshooting predominantly Oracle products and help our customers making best use of the technology
  • Provide primary support for critical, complex production Oracle databases running financial applications.
  • Perform Oracle Systems Database Administration across multiple Oracle database environments and ensure continuous 24x7 operation and availability in support of mission critical internal production applications.
  • Good knowledge of Unix Shell Scripting and be able to write / maintain OS level scripts (i.e., UNIX shell) for system DB maintenance.
  • Ensure the quality and consistency of data and database systems by following a defined set of procedures (change control, security procedures, user passwords, backups, etc.).
  • Strong operational experience with Oracle Database on RAC on Oracle 12C / 19C and above with ASM Disk.
  • Migrate the existing Platform to the current engineered Standard of Oracle 12c, Active Data Guard, RAC and ASM for fast Test and Dev refreshes
  • Actively participate in solutions architecture, product engineering and continual service improvement
  • Perform various project related database requests for customers. Tasks can include DDL generation, cloning, schema and / or table level data refreshes, performance tuning, database consolidation.
  • Collaborate with application / development partners to address performance reported issues. Troubleshoot and resolve, in conjunction with Operational / Customer DBAs, database application issues across production, test and development environments
  • Create a reliable backup strategy. Ensure database backups are appropriately. Manage backup / recovery and provide Disaster Recovery planning. Test backup and recovery scenarios, formulate disaster recovery procedures using storage technologies such as NAS and RMAN etc.
  • Provide input into architecture and design for new Oracle Database implementation.
  • Proactively manage and maintain security standards and controls.
  • Actively seek to optimize and simplify our architecture.
  • Take ownership of performance and capacity monitoring aspects of the DB.
  • Execution of data migration jobs and scripts as required.
  • Assist the infrastructure team in sizing hardware used for the DB.
  • Support and collaborate with product developers.
  • Contribute to the creation and maintenance of disaster recovery plans.
  • Determine and document DB policies, procedures and standards.
  • Performance testing and evaluation to ensure data security, privacy and integrity. Identification of bottle necks and deadlock issues.
  • Ensure SLA's & operational KPI’s are met, working as necessary with internal and external support functions when major incidents occur.
  • Hand on experience on deploying and managing Oracle Database Encryption and Oracle Data Masking.
  • Good Working experience on Oracle Enterprise Manager for oracle database monitoring configuration and different reporting generation as per the business and operation requirements.

Required skills

  • Ideally Oracle Certified DB Professional (OCP) with 3-8 years’ experience with Oracle. Experience should include installation, configuration, patching, DB design, capacity planning, performance tuning, storage management, back-up and recovery, managing schemas, report generation and DB clustering technologies.
  • Operating system experience in Linux.
  • Oracle management tools (Data Guard, RMAN, Data pump, OEM).
  • Oracle Database Partitioning.
  • Architecture design principles.
  • Good problem solver, performance tuning skill set, focused and dedicated developer with ability to work on your own as well as with a team.
  • Hands on experience with DB standards and end user applications-translating capacity requirements into infrastructure deployment technology.
  • Strong practical experience of ORACLE in a production RAC (ASM) environment (19C).
  • Must be a self-starter with a strong attention to detail and person must take ownership for any activities.
  • Hands on Experience with Oracle Database encryption and Oracle Database masking.
  • Working experience with an organization with a key reliance on 24x7 reliability on its database.
