Advanced Process Control Engineer

Overview

We are looking for an Advanced Process Control (APC) Engineer to join our team at Global Manufacturing Excellence (GME) under the Reliability Solutions Department (RSD). RSD provides engineering support to Saudi Aramco Global Manufacturing and its affiliates in refining, NGL processing, and petrochemicals.

Key Responsibilities

• Streamline APC objectives with corporate objectives and develop programs, best practices, and monitor KPIs to improve APC and economic performance.
• Analyze data from various sources, such as process variables, instrumentation, and control systems, to identify opportunities for improvement.
• Develop inferential (linear and non‑linear) models to improve refinery operations, efficiency and reduce costs.
• Implement APC strategies, perform feasibility studies and establish new business cases to optimize refinery operations and maximize the yield of desired products.
• Conduct pilots and evaluate new APC technologies such as real‑time optimization, machine learning, and AI to contribute to yield improvement.
• Analyze chronic problems and debottleneck complex APC to improve process operations and economic benefits.
• Provide subject‑matter expertise to operating facilities’ Operations, Maintenance, and Engineering teams by consulting, providing awareness sessions, and participating in and leading technical exchanges and conferences.
• Lead technical sessions such as design review, model review, and commissioning.
• Perform periodic assessments and evaluations to assess the performance and effectiveness of real‑time optimization solutions.
• Work closely with the optimization team (Real‑time optimization engineers, Simulation engineers, and automation engineers) and ensure optimization requirements are met.
• Lead pre‑ and post‑performance baseline evaluation for APC technologies.
• Monitor economic‑benefit key performance indicators and provide recommendations.
• Review standards and general instructions on behalf of the GME departments and act as leading SME.
