Job Summary
The Head Nurse for the Cath-Lab Unit is responsible for the day-to-day operational management, staffing, and long-term clinical planning of the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory. This role ensures high-quality, patient-centered care by leading and mentoring nursing staff, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, maintaining compliance with hospital policies and quality standards, and managing departmental resources efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical & Operational Leadership: Directs daily unit operations, conducts shift rounds, manages patient assignments based on acuity, and ensures smooth handover processes (including narcotics/controlled substances).
Patient & Quality Care: Assesses nursing care needs, enforces safety and infection control protocols, monitors unit KPIs, and investigates occurrences or complaints to drive continuous quality improvement.
Staff Management & Development: Conducts orientation, in-service training, and annual performance evaluations for nursing staff while fostering a collaborative environment with physicians and allied health teams.
Resource & Administrative Management: Oversees inventory levels, medication expiry checks, time sheets/overtime, supply ordering, unit budget adherence, and billing approval follow-ups.
