Material Engineer

Review and approve material submittals, technical data sheets, and certificates of compliance in line with project specifications. Verify material compliance with relevant international standards (ASTM, BS, ISO, ACI, etc.) and client requirements. Conduct inspection of incoming materials to ensure quality and compliance before approval for use. Maintain a comprehensive Material Approval Schedule and ensure timely submissions to avoid project delays. Coordinate with procurement teams to ensure approved materials are ordered and delivered as per project timelines. Manage material sampling, testing, and inspections in collaboration with third-party laboratories. Review and verify test reports (soil, aggregate, concrete, asphalt, steel, etc.) and recommend corrective action if results are non-compliant. Monitor supplier and subcontractor performance for material quality and delivery commitments. Ensure proper handling, storage, and protection of materials at the site. Support the construction team in resolving material-related issues and providing technical guidance. Conduct site visits to ensure materials in use match the approved specifications and submittals. Liaise with the Quality Control / Quality Assurance team to ensure full compliance with the project’s quality plan. Keep detailed records of all material approvals, deliveries, inspections, and test results. Prepare and present material compliance reports to the Project Manager and client representatives. Assist in audits and inspections by the client or authorities regarding material compliance. Identify and recommend alternative materials when necessary to meet project requirements or resolve supply chain issues. Support in airport-specific material approvals, including specialized pavement, runway lighting, terminal finishes, and other aviation infrastructure materials. Bachelor’s Degree in Civil, Materials, or related Engineering discipline. Minimum 15 years of relevant experience in material engineering. Demonstrated experience in PMC roles. Proven background in airport construction projects is essential. Strong understanding of international material standards and specifications. Excellent communication, coordination, and reporting skills. Proficiency in MS Office, material tracking tools, and document management systems.
