Senior Fellow - Financial Oil Derivatives
The SeniorFellow – Financial Oil Derivatives will assess the role of financial players in the oil market (including hedgers, speculators, commodity trading advisors, etc). This includes quantitative and qualitative analysis on the impact of trading techniques and investor participation on price, and analysis of the latest derivatives and investor strategies. The focus will be on recent developments in the oil market, but also on relevant historical experience and perspectives for the future.
Responsibilities :
Monitor the market for oil-related derivatives and hedging positions and assess their impact on prices through econometric and other quantitative methods
Assess the role of market fundamentals vs. speculative activity to explain oil price movements
Track international limitations and regulations related to investors’ oil market participation
Analyze financial investments and prices of other commodities traded on financial exchanges and see connections with the oil market
Design and conduct applied research on the above topics
Prepare publications (reports, peer-reviewed papers, journals)
Contribute to advisory projects for the Saudi energy sector
Competencies & Qualifications :
Master’s degree or Ph.D. in Economics, Engineering, or energy-related relevant fields
Min 10 years of academic, banking or energy industry experience in the area of oil and financial derivatives
Consultancy experience would be a plus
Experience of working in multidisciplinary and multicultural teams
Good communication skills and enthusiastic team player
