The Fiscal Affairs Department (FAD) of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) is seeking an experienced and qualified expert to fill a resident macro‑fiscal advisor position based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
The position requires strong macro‑fiscal analytical skills and experience in public finance, with a focus on macro‑fiscal forecasting and modelling, fiscal risks, and macro‑fiscal policy analysis.
Responsibilities
Provide capacity development support to staff of the Macro‑Fiscal Policy Deputyship (MFPD) at the Ministry of Finance of Saudi Arabia.
Offer hands‑on support and training to develop and refine forecasting and modelling tools that support and integrate with budget preparation.
Build macro‑fiscal and fiscal risk analytical capabilities for the MFPD.
Enhance staff capacity to communicate macro‑fiscal policy and analysis.
Improve budget documentation and analytical reports of the MFPD.
Work proactively with MFPD staff to identify capacity development needs and actions.
Coordinate and support complementary activities with short‑term experts from IMF headquarters.
Qualifications
University degree or equivalent (at least master’s level), preferably in economics or finance.
At least four years of relevant professional experience; preference for candidates with at least 10 years in capacity development and / or macro‑fiscal analysis in finance ministries, central banks, or international institutions.
Expertise in macro‑fiscal forecasting, modelling, and analysis; understanding of fiscal frameworks and their integration with budget processes.
Excellent interpersonal, communication, analytical, policy, and research skills.
Strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to transfer technical knowledge and build effective relationships.
Arabic language skills are an advantage but not required.
The advisor’s appointment will be for a period of one year with the possibility of extension subject to funding availability. The Advisor will report to FAD staff in Washington DC, who will provide ongoing advice and support.
