Overview The

Manager – Outbound Transportation

is responsible for developing the strategy for transportation of fully built units (Import and Export), safe storage, maintenance and upkeep of the CBU’s at the vehicle yard, multi‑modal transportation opportunities to drive freight cost down, and developing third party logistics providers, ro-ro shipping liners, rail freight agencies, and a road transporter network to efficiently manage vehicle yard inventory and processes. Coordinate with sales for timely shipment of CBU’s and provide strategic and technical know‑how for safe storage of EV vehicles. This role drives operations with safety, security and integrity of high‑value assets under control.

Responsibilities

Lead the transportation function for all CBU activities (Import / Export / Domestic distribution).

Develop and execute transportation strategies that reduce costs, improve service levels, and support business growth.

Manage a team of transportation managers, analysts, and logistics coordinators.

Select, negotiate, and manage carrier contracts and 3PL partnerships.

Oversee freight audit and payment processes to ensure accuracy and cost control.

Monitor and report transportation KPIs (on‑time delivery, freight spend, transit time, etc.) and drive performance improvements.

Collaborate with procurement, distribution, customer service, and manufacturing to align transportation plans with operational goals.

Ensure full compliance with DOT, FMCSA, and international trade / shipping regulations.

Evaluate and implement transportation management systems (TMS) and logistics technologies for planning and visibility.

Lead continuous improvement projects focused on lead time reduction, network optimization, and customer delivery performance.

Support sustainability goals through efficient routing, load consolidation, and emissions reduction initiatives.

Manage, coach and develop a high‑performing team that meets objectives and delivers best practice results, added value and continuous improvements.

Set departmental objectives / KPIs and review ongoing performance of direct reports.

Ensure staff maintain accurate material schedules to get the right materials on site at the right time.

Ensure the function operates in accordance with health, safety and environmental policies to safeguard staff and visitors.

Maintain strong acumen for freight cost management and budget control.

Qualifications

Experience leading transportation operations for Import / Export and domestic distribution.

Proven ability to develop cost‑saving transportation strategies and improve service levels.

Experience managing a logistics team and coordinating with cross‑functional functions.

Strong negotiation skills with carrier contracts and 3PL partners.

Familiarity with freight auditing, TMS, and logistics technologies.

Ability to drive continuous improvement and sustainability initiatives.

Excellent communication and leadership capabilities.
